Tooth whitening

I know that this has been discussed before, but i was wondering if anyone who discussed it actually went ahead and got it done ? i am looking at the laser tooth whitening that an ex hygenist carries out from her home and charges £300, is this any good ? what about the kits they sell on ebay - the feedback all looks great but never know if its just a scam to make to buy the kits.

Any advice greatfully received x

White teeth!!

Hi I've bought tooth whitening kits off ebay and to be honest they take up alot of time with not much results, Also I've had the cheaper whitening done (£150) sounds the same (ex hygienist) its ok but makes your teeth really sensitive (still now and its been 4 months) results are ok but nothing special and mine were pretty white anyway just made them a couple of shades whiter.

Hope this helps

Annette

Teeth whitening

I've had it done at a Beauty Salon and it was great. I did a lot of research first and there are 2 products used in teeth whitening depending on the company. Hydrogen peroxide is used this is what I had with Beyond White Spa some companies use chlorine dioxyde which is a cleaning agent! This product can damage your teeth enamel so stay well clear in my opinion. I had no sensitivity at all as the therapist uses only 6% hydrogen peroxide, dentists use much much higher apparently and thats why you get the pain. I love it and I have had a top up to keep them looking white

Beyond

Hi there i just wondered where you got your beyond white spa done at?
How did they do it, how did they protect your gums and was the light they used hot at all. Im well scared of having hot things on my lips!!!
How many sessions doid you have and how much whiter did you go?
Thanks, Fi

Not a good idea!

As a registered dental nurse, I get the General Dental Council newsletter sent to me.
It seems that companies who do not hold a qualiciation of either a Dental surgeon or a Dental hygienist are in the eyes of the GDC illegal.
It was informed that many problems had been issued out within this. This includes asthma problems and such that people who ARE unqualified won't be able to rule out as they have no knowledge of the anatomy and the dental layout.
So this was based on people who work in salons to gain a profit which could result in them being sued and out of buisness. It is not a 100% safe way of going about. So if you are to get this done, you MUST get it done by a Hygienist or a dentist. They are the TRAINED ones. Not people who have learnt this by instructions.
You're putting your LIFE and TEETH at risk.
The way I see it, it's like a beauty therapist doing chiropodist work!.
As I said, this in the eyes of the professionals, is illegal.
There has been no proper training carried out within those who do this in salons.
