I asked the same question as I'm going to buy a new pair of straighteners. I've been told that the new babyliss ones are excellent and that they have a dial to control the temperature. This could be useful for you because if you say that GHDs make your hair smell funny maybe it's because the temperature's too high for your type of hair. You could try using them at a lower temperature. By the way I haven't tried neither the babyliss ones nor the GHDs, apart from making your hair smelly do you find GHDs good? Is your hair curly or straight? Does it remain poker straight until the next wash when you use them? Sorry for asking all these questions but I really don't want to spend loads of money on another appliance to find out that it's useless like usual!!! Thanks

Hi I am sending my GHDs back, and i am using my cheapos again...truth..no difference for me ..bit ~I have kinky hair! no curly, and it still needed doing every day with GHDs, not worth the extra in my opinion. thanks for the tip re the temperature controls!

I think I'll save money then, if u say that your hair's kinky and not even curly and you still had to go over it everyday then they really aren't worth their price. I'll probably try out the babyliss ones! I'll let you know as soon as I try them and thanks again for your reply!!!

GHDs are by far the best, they are very hot. They had a discussion going at www.GHDForums.com but i think someone hacked it and they had to start again.

Sometimes they can burn your hair though, you have to be carful, but there is no comparison
