I am absolutely at wits end with my hair!! Its is poker straight and thin and fine. And long. I've heard nightmares about extensions and I can't afford the upkeep. My hair doesn't take perms. And it can barely hold curl unless I put in hot rollers EVERYDAY. It looks drab and lifeless and I have no idea how to style it and make me look like a woman and not a little girl. Does ANYONE have ANY ideas for me??

Have you considered longer layers to give some body to your hair? I've had extentions in since June & although I love them I am having them out in January because they cost so much to keep having re-done. My hair is thin & fine & I had it cut short which was a big mistake hence getting extensions.
Doesn't your hairdresser have any ideas?

me too-i was ready the other message-the lady with straight thin long hair -said to use hotrollers-well let me tell ya dont work-i can you styling products not too much -too much dosent matter and finish with hairspray-within 10 mins my hair is pin straight -i kid you not-on my wedding day -i went with my sister to get our updos(i was dreading and told the stylist about my hair woes-he put styling products in -ussed hot rollers and when he took the rollers out he stated to me you were not kidding about your hair holding curl-he used 5 diffrent types of sprays to hold the curl-it stayed-but oh what work -my sister on the other hand who has straight fine hair as well-has a bouncier type of straight hair-her curls came out diffrent -so full of life and boune-even though we got the curls to stay in my hair-her curls were better-when i brush my hair it looks full and beautiful for the first 5 mins -i have to brush it all the time because it tangles constantly-i always have a brush in hand-my long hair is my joy-cant cut it-tried every product imaginable-i,d be rich if i had all the money i have spent on hair care products-id have more free time too if not for spending time searching for haircare tips-im on a quest-any suggestions

I've struggled with hair just like you describe for all of my life. Other people with thick manageable hair don't know how we dread wind, rain, or even humidity. Keeping our hair healthy and in good shape is #1. We have to keep what we have! Since I stopped using hot rollers and curling irons my hair is much happier and healthier. You probably already know most of what I'm going to say here, but avoid overdoing the products that promise to thicken. They can make our hair even limper. Squeaky clean hair with just the right amount of volumizing products added, as you've probably noticed gives us more volume than loading it on. A little goes a long ways. Wearing your hair all one length with just a touch of layering give it volume....(I know the shreadded layered look is the thing, but it doesn't work on thin fine hair.) My hair stylist who has great hair often adds too much layering and it's disastrous for me. Another case where a little goes a long way for us. Keep your hair medium length. Anything that touches the shoulders or below causes hair to separate and look even thinner, while pulling out the curl. I've liked Sebastian products for styling, but they're recently discontinued some of them. Good luck.

why not try just a few extensions it can make the world of difference, iv used them for well over ten yrs now.you can buy them yourself cheaply for around £20 for 25 pre bonded (glued)extensions from loads of internet sites, and the heat connector for around £50,they lasts about 3 months, my daughter puts mine in now,there really easy to do just look them up on p.c for instructions good luck.X
