Hi,
Ive always wanted my hair the same colour as barbie or paris hilton,
and ive always dyed my hair light ash blonde in garnier belle colour but it always went a light blonde but not the exact colour that i wanted,

(my natural hair colour is medium blonde)

i then saw Live XXL platinum blonde and the box had the exact colour,
so i baught it,
I have dyed it now and it didnt work....
its gone like a yellow colour, not white,
it looks worse then it was before i used it,
has anyone got any advice on what i can do,
im not gonna use live XXl again because it made my hair so dry,
and i just dont trust it,
should i put a garnier belle colour over it?
i dont want my hair to fall out or anything??
please help......

Thanks x x x x

"Platinum blonde solution"

Hi I am a hairdresser. The finished result totally depends on what colour/tone you are starting with, so although you may get replies with solutions, they may not work with your natural tone.

My advice is go to a salon TRAINING night. Aprentices cant really go wrong as the trainer help choose the correct colour, shows correct technique and chooses a toner.

They can be a bargain too, and your hair will look as good as any celeb!

If you are anywhere near Notts email me and we will sort it for you!

I am a user of PLATINUM BLOND color more as 25 years and find the best platinum color in any country where I lived : Latvia, Malta, Germany . Now, in UK I have a same problem as others - your shops havent ANY GOOD QUALITY platinum blond color WITH GOOD BRAND NAME. But thouse companies HAVE a wonderfull color of that sort, for example I receive from my uncle (he live in Grenoble) L"OREAL color FERIA with number 120 PLATINUM CRYSTAL - wonderfull, nice and excellent. Question is WHY shop managers (BOOTS, SUPERDRUGS, etc) in UK dont want bye / oder that sort of Platinum bLOND? At the moment you will bye this color in internet when you open international(with com at the end, not UK.co) page of L"OREAL. Good luck!

use a toner.
it's what they use in salons and really does make a huge difference, because the purple colour of it counteracts that annoying orangeness you can get from blonde dyes.
i recommend fudge whiter shade of pale, 'tis what i use :]

The problem and commhon misconception with store bought hair products is that buying for example Live Colour Platinum, that putting it over your normal colour will produce these results.

Unfortunately you must use a bleach pre lightener, they have some good ones in my local Savers at very reasonable prices. You need to lift your natural colour as much as you can to remove the yellow tint (as they do in hairdressers) which if your going from mid blonde to platinum cannot be done in one sitting unless you have amazing condition to your hair. Once the yellow is lifted you can then use the platinum to TINT it to the correct colour.

The store bought dyes are nothing more than tints which lift what you have perhaps a few shades.

In my more naive youth i too used the same product but bought 2 in case there was a yellowing. I find when i use platinum blonde dye it conditions my hair amazingly but i prefer boots own brand as the oils in the product leave my hair in fantastic condition!

i would recommend using a tinter to restore shine and cover up the yellow until the hair can be lifted again, and keep doing this until you reach the desired result.

For me though i got to platinum blonde and a few months after regretted it, it cost me a fortune in toner for maintenance

I hope this helps

I did the exact same thing.
Although I used Live colour XXL "ice blonde" because it was the closest thing to platinum I could find.
My hair had been coloured previously, too but was alot darker than ash blonde. It was brownish with light blonde highlights. Anyway, when I tried it out, my hair went two different colours - neither of which were anything close to platinum. YELLOW and ORANGE.

I also did the exact same thing as you - I went over it with Garnier Belle colour and it was fine. belle colour improved the condition by a huge amount and worked perfectly. Although i'm convinced that you can still see a slight ginger tinge in my hair. Grr.

It does say on the instructions that you're not meant to use the product if your hair was formerly dyed. So according to Schwarzkopf you have to have virgin hair for the dye to work. (Yeah right, because all teenage girls go from having virgin hair to drastic hair, duh!) Oh crap, sarcasm overload. Anyway. I hope you're hair's better and if not then I hope this post helps.
