Hi everyone,
I am thinking about getting laser hair removal done at the above clinic, and am going for a test patch soon.
I'm caught in a catch 22 situation because I really want to get the procedure done as I am starting to become conscious of a slight 'shadow' on my upper lip area (I have been plucking for years and years) and really want to be done with it. Furthermore I work in tv, and soon will be reporting, and the I would love to just not have to think about my upper lip issue!
However, I am very scared about the side effects of laser hair removal. I am asian and will probably have a special YAG laser used on my skin, but am still worried about the hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation that could occur (this is basically when the skin darkens or lightens in the area). I would hate for this to happen as it would probably be worse than the shadow I have now! Alos, when I was a little girl (I am 24 now) I had slight vitiligo (discoloration) on my eyelids, its gone now, but I would hate to aggravate it in to coming back!
I would really really appreciate any feedback from people (especially asian girls) who've had laser hair removal done, would love to hear about your experience.
Thanks!

Hi Zimbabwe22,
Did you speak to Sonal at the clinic?
What did she say about the shadow from plucking?
I have a similar issue with chin hairs, and it is becoming more and more apparent.
Let me know if you have been successful as I am also asian girl.
Thanks

Hi Zimbabwe
I went and saw a nurse called Sonal at a clinic in SE London but I believe she also works at the Viva Clinic. If it is her, then i think she will give you an honest opinion. I got the impression she was very safety conscious and not after an easy buck...she has told one of my friends she wasn't happy to treat her given a medical problem she had.
I suppose as long as you follow the advice given like staying out of the sun, then you shouldnt have anything to worrt about.
Good luck x

I have laser hair removal at a place called London Laser Hair Removal in London W1 and the lady there is really helpful and thorough. At my consultation she went thru everything and answered all my questions - it did take an hour but I felt really confident with her. The treatment has really worked for me on most areas. Her name is Jude - www.londonlaserhairremoval.com
