"Rhinoplasty....."
Posted by sabrina18861 25 August  at  22:06

..... Am on day one of recovery, pain is minimimal due to very good pain relief tablets. My nose feels blocked though, presume with dried blood, but am only allowed to clean the outside so how does this go away?! Would love to hear from others going through this or those who have been through before.. no horror stories though please!!!!! x

yeah i hated that part too. you'll feel like you have the heaviest cold for about a week but if you use cotton wool buds and warm water you can gently remove the loose dry blood.

Hi, Who have you just had your nose done with? I'm curently trying to choose a surgeon to do mine (and a ba) & it's so difficult! x
"Dr frati"
Posted by beautiful2912 31 August  at  15:40

I am booked for rhinoplasty with Dr Frati a week today. I only booked and paid on Friday but i have wanted a nose job since my teens and given it serious consideration for 4 years.

I am quite nervous now, it isn't a secret amongst people that i know what i am doing but my parents are pretty gutted with my decision which is making me feel quite emotional. Everyone has said that there is nothing wrong with my nose (there is) but that they understand that i am doing this for me because it is something i am personally not happy with. I am glad it is only a week away, i couldn't feel like a bag of nerves like this for any longer!

Any help or advice appreciated - i am travelling cardiff to london by the chauffer service Harley Medical provide - anyone else done that?
"Good luck..."

I wish you all the best, it will be fine, and i'm sure you will be so much happier afterwards! My parents weren't overly happy with my decision either but were always supportive. To be honest I don't think it's that they don't want you to have it done, it's probably just that they are worried more than anything? It's hard though because they are the people you want there for you the most! I can't really comment on Harley Medical as had mine done with Transform.. best advice I was given before-hand was to take arnica but i'm sure you've already been told that! Happy to answer any questions, lots of luck, let me know how you get on! xx
"Hi hun"

... i know exactly how you feel. I had my nose done in January and although i didnt really feel any pain afterwards it was more the uncomfortable blocked feeling that i didnt like. They told me I couldnt blow my nose for two weeks afterwards!

As i didnt have any splints inside my nose i was given a saline solution to put in my nose to get rid of the dried blood. The thing i found most helpful though was a product called Sterimar which you can buy from chemist, this will make you feel much better.

Hope that helps x

.... so much for your response, will definitely give that a try. i've been really panicky about what's normal and what isn't so you've put my mind at rest! i'm struggling with the sleeping upright thing as well so lack of sleep is making me paranoid! who did you have yours done with? are you happy with the result? x
"Hi..."

thats ok hun, glad i can help. I had mine done by Dr Henry Sharp- he is an ear, nose and throat plastic surgeon. Yeh im really happy with the result its given me a lot more confiedence. When are you getting your bandage off?x
"Rhinoplasty..."

that's really good to hear that you're happy with the result i'm booked in to have my splint off on monday afternoon.. it's impossible to see how it looks at the minute so i can imagine monday being a bit emotional for me!! i'm new to this site so hoping it's right to reply to you all in one message! i had my rhinoplasty done with mr khan through transform on sunday 24th this month. i was a bit worried as he was the first surgeon i had a consultation with and then i read a few horror stories on here about transform and there isn't too many rhinoplasty forums... it worried me slightly but i was already all booked in and there seems to be stories about every cosmetic surgery company. i have to say, although i am still in recovery and can not comment on the end result of my rhinoplasty, i honestly can not fault transform or mr khan though, i can understand his approach may put some people off as he is very straight to the point and maybe this comes across as abrupt? for me though his manner just reflected how much he knows what he is talking about and he seemed to know exactly what i wanted within minutes but also addressed my concerns and worries. i was absolutely petrified about the ga and the operation itself but the staff at the heath clinic were so so lovely. mr khan came in to see me before my op and my parents had just left me so i was slightly emotional and he really put my mind at ease. i also had the nicest aneathetist and nurses. i also received a call from the nurse who will be removing my splint to check all was ok a few days after my op which came just as my panicking set in! she really put my mind at rest and assured me everything i was experiencing was completely normal so now feeling much better. i think it's the lack of sleep that's creating most of my worries anyway! if you want to ask anything at all please feel free, it's obviously a huge decision to make! have you got any consultations booked? x
"Mr khan"
Posted by sarabear30 28 August  at  19:18

I'm booked in for a consultation with Mr Khan at Transform on Monday 1st Sept in Bristol. Also booking one with Rubicon (either Mr Khan again or Mr Frati) for the week after. Even though I haven't met Mr Khan I'm hoping I like him as I've seen some pics of his work & I'm impressed. Please could you let me know how u get on with your splint removal & if possible could I see some pics when/if you take some? I'm hoping to get mine done early November x

Just wanted to say that I hope you are happy with the results straight away, but dont worry if ur not. There will be alot of swelling but it does go down. I was really emotional for weeks after, regretting what i had done to myself, and that it wasn't that bad before etc. It took me about 6 months to finally be happy with it and accept my new nose. It didnt help that other people kept telling me that it wasn't bad before and couldnt give a definite yes to me when i asked if it looked better now. I only told a few people and no-one else has noticed or at least not mentioned it to me or my family. However, the other day my mum told me that my dad had said how it did look better now so that made me feel better too. He's not the type to be able to tell me himself bless him! Like i said, hopefully you'll like urs straight away but really dont worry if you dont. It'll all settle in the end. Best of luck.x

.. for the lovely message. I'm glad that you're happy with the result, my dad is very similar to that so it would mean a lot to know he had said that too I've done the same as you about telling people, have only told a couple of friends and my parents. One friend I told said that I didn't need it 2 days before I was due to have the op which is not what you want to hear at all, I was glad I made the decision not to tell others at this point. I don't know how I will feel if people don't notice though, I think it may upset me, or then if I tell them I've had it done and they then say they hadn't noticed because it still looks the same?! I'm not really sure how to play it.. I've been looking forward to Monday all week but today I've become really emotional and have this huge paranoia that it still looks exactly as it did before! I need to keep reminding myself that, as you said, Monday will not be the final result anyway... Thanks again for your message, will let you know how monday goes! xx

Jen - thank you for your message, happy to show you pics! who are you having yours done with? good luck! xx

"The splint is off!"
Posted by sabrina18861 1 September  at  21:42

First impressions, very happy girl the tip is still very swollen as well as the bridge but can see he has done a really good job. It was a really really emotional experience, I just can not explain how it feels! I was so scared to look in the mirror at first! I found it really hard to get a true picture of the difference so they printed off my before pics and it was just amazing, such a difference.. Felt so overwhelmed with emotion I burst into tears as soon as I saw my Mum when I got home, she thought I was crying because I hated it!!! Been staring at it all night and making myself paranoid that it's still big, need to keep reminding myself about the fact it's still swollen!! The tip of my nose is completely numb which is a really strange feeling! I promise to put some after pics up as soon as the swelling has gone down a bit more etc! How did your consultation go today? What time were you there? xx

hi, i had septo rhinoplasty with mr khan and have had my splint removed today. my nose and forehead is still a little swollen but im really worried because im sure i have a little dent in the tip of my nose, it where the edge of the splint lay? i spoke to my co-ordinator and she tried to reassure me over the phone. did you have such worries? one side is more swollen than the other and im hoping things will even out, im so scared that i bothered something while i was cleaning my nose with a cotton bud (i was so gentle). ive convinced myself that i tore the stitches and some cartlidge has dropped? i must sound mad, maybe i am! any words of advice would be so greatly received. xx
"Great news!"

Oh that's great that you're happy, the past 7 days must have been really tense for u! Anyway, I arrived for my consultation at 11.30 & didn't leave the clinic til 1.30 but I only spent a maximum of 10 minutes with Mr Khan which I found disappointing. Didn't get all of my questions answered but they were really really busy in there. I really liked Mr Khan though, he wasn't as abrupt as I was expecting! I also liked what he suggested. I didn't like the hard sell I felt I was getting with transform tho so I think I'll book a consultation with Mr Khan through rubicon & hope I get longer with him. Hope your nose heals well. Please keep us updated, I can't wait to see the pics! What exactly did u have done to your nose? Mr Khan has suggested removing my bump & shortening my nose xx
