Just seen this now

I think I might have told you in PM a while back that my surgeon changed to normal (not expander) implants

Will be 3wks post op tomo; had 300cc overs

Healing well but feeling really really tired all the time!

On the day I arrived 7.25am, was whisked off and told I was first on list!

Was prepped and given a pre-med and operated on at 8.45, came round at 10.15 am, talking and asking "what size? have i got drains? can I have a drink?"- I couldn't shut up!!

My op was nowhere near as long as you guys seem to have been told.

My bp etc was fine so back on ward pretty quick. I'd been told I would be having drains and staying one night, 2 if any probs but they discharged me same day at 2.50pm! Didn't have drains either

They'd told my mum on phone I might be allowed out, she and Dad arrived to visit at 2.20 expecting to be told I could leave at tea time and they let me out then!!

Bit messy cos Mum was driving me to North Wales (where they live) from Sheffield in her car and dad driving mine as it needs MOTing next week and he's gonna sort it; but cos I was supposed to be staying over I only insured him from today; so all groggy had to ring round the insurer and fix all that!

Left my house in Sheffield at about 4pm, saw some of rush hour and stopped twice for a wee and a double cheeseburger

Got in about 8pm.

Mum was a bit worried cos I was almost high when they discharged wouldnt shut up or keep still, was ok until day after op and that night I spent 8hrs or so being sick

I got Mr Lam to agree to 300cc, nurse told me he had managed to fit them in!!

They were pointy but slowly getting better! Will see how they are in about 12 months and if necessary Mr Lam will do some more work on nipples but he was hopeful they'll be ok over time

Have got some pics upto one week, need to do some more. PM me if you want to see xx

"Tuberous breast surgery on nhs"

Hi,

I'm 27 and soon will be having reconstructive surgery to correct my tuberous breasts. The surgery will be on the NHS and they've recommended that I have a normal implant on my left breast and an expandor on my right breast, the latter will be filled over a few months and then replaced with a normal silicone implant.

I am really happy this is now happening, but I am a bit concerned and would like to hear and from people with similar experiences.

Thanks,
Maria

"I had mine corrected! "

Hi there everyone. I havent been on these boards for ages! I had my tuberous breasts corrected from sept 2007 and they were finally finished being corrected in june 2008. I had expanders put into both of my breasts in sept 07 then they were expanded until dec 07 (this was done by having salt water injected into the expander, it was in no way painful just a bit weird). They then had time to settle down and I had my special (sized and shaped just for me) implants put in in june 08. It might sound like a long journey but it was well worth it. There were some incidents along the way as well but operations wise I have had three that were to do with my breasts. The max time I had off for one op was 3wks but after 5days I was able to do most things. It is a scary experience going into hospital. I was so nervous the 1st time round as I had never had an op before in my life. But looking back it was the best decision I have ever made. My results are fab and im like a different person now. No more stuffing my bra, no more hidden tears in the shower. No more lights out with the boyfriend! If any one would like to see my pics (I did have them on picturetrail but they were removed) I wud be happy to email them to you. Just pm me and give me ur email and ill be happy to send you them. As I cudnt really find any before my breast journey so I know it wud be helpful to anyone out there who is thinking or is going to be having their tuberous breasts corrected!

.X.

I had surgery for tuberous breasts on Saturday, I went private as I got turned down by the NHS. I had a ba with areola uplift and reduction and correction of assemetry. I cant help with the expandor bit but so far so good with mine, considering the extra work I have had done. I am up and about although a bit slower at getting anywhere I feel fine. Up to Saturday I didnt think too much about the surgery although did take my before pictures and was glad that I was finally having it done as they looked worse in pictures than in the mirror. Friday night I felt sick in that I couldnt believe I was actually doing it but now it is done I ma so glad those ugly things have finally gone! I am still all strapped up at the minute but will put up some pics as soon as I can. Good luck with everything, it is definately worth it in my opinion.

when will you be having the surgery?

Hi Emma,

Happy to hear your surgery went well. Amazing to think it was only a couple of days ago and you're already online!! hope my recovery is as quick!!

did you have drains?? how long were you in the clinic? I'm due to stay for two to three days, hope this means just one night (but doubt it)

are you off work for a couple of weeks? They've asked me to take two to three weeks off.

how long was ur op? mine is around 2hrs but need to be under for about 5...which seems excessive..

My op is on the 28th, so 2.5 wks from now!!
I think, like you, I will be really anxious the day b4 but I've lived with this for so long cant wait to get new boobies!

xx

I did have drains, although not much came out of them. One came out fine, the second stung like a bug*er but was bearable. I went to the clinic for 1pm but was delayed because the morning people ran over so didnt end up going down til 7pm, my op was 2 1/2 hours but they said I would be out for about 4 hours, think i got back to my room at 10.30pm. I was discharged about 11.30am on sunday.

At the minute I have this week booked off work for holiday but have a drs appointment on thurs so am hopefully going to get signed off for another week, if not will self cert for 4 days, my notes advise 2 weeks because of the extra work I have had done.

I thought I was going to be a lot worse than this but I have been up and around the house today, didnt want to fester in bed all day! although i am trying not to do too much too quickly!

Hi Maria;

I can't help really about what will happen because I'm at the same stage as you.

I'm having the op on 22nd Oct; having expanders in both breasts but the type that they remove the valve and leave the implant in; I won't have it swapped.

Depending on the success I may need a 2nd op to correct puffy nipples but the surgeon is hoping not.

I'm a bit pushed for time tonight but if you want to chat feel free to PM me

"Surgery confirmed!"

Hi,

They've finally been in touch and my surgery is in two weeks! In a way I cant wait but am also pretty nervous. Not had general anaesthetic b4 and I'm a bit worried.

Going in to see the surgeon a couple of days before to determine exact sizes (at last). Dont want to go too big- Im a 34A/B now wouldn't want more than a 34C/D.

Would love to hear from Ishi to see how the op went.

If anyone has any tips for:

choosing post surgery bras? how many? what size (one bigger than you're eventually going to be?)

itchiness that everyone talks about?/

how long until I can do some exercise?

how much you can actually do after the op? (Im going ot be in hosp for two to three days)

Thanks!
M

Sorry I can't help Maria but would very much like to know how your surgery goes as I am in the same position and am currently looking for a surgeon who has done good work on tuberous breasts. I have a milder form of the condition in relation to the majority of the photos I have seen online but it's still affecting my confidence and life in a huge way. Also, how did you go about getting it on the NHS? From what I know they are strict on breast surgeries.
I've obviously never had surgery but from what I have read and heard it would be abnormal for you not to be concerned and scared! I wish you all the best and please get in touch.
