I had exactly the same thing in the back of my hand. I went to my GP as I was convinced they had left a piece of pipe or tube in my hand, or that the needle had snapped inside.
Anyway he told me that Its inflamation of the vien and is called superficial thrombophlebitis! It happens when the canula irritates the vien and causes it to swell.
I am now 6 months post op and it is still slightly noticable although going down very slowly. It started off being about 2cm long and is now about 1/2cm long
You can be prescribed a gel to apply to the area, although this made little difference to me.
If yours is the same thing as mine it is nothing to worry about and will go in time (lots of time!!)

I had my BA 11 days ago and i have in my arm (where they put the GA) what seems to be a little short piece of pipe. I thought it was the vein they used originally but the more I touch it the more it feels like they have left something in my arm????

It is very sore around that area and is still bruised.

Can someone help as it is making me feel really sick to think they could have done it!!!

I had this. The first thing I noticed was that when the anaesthetic went in, it really hurt my wrist, then aferwards it was soooo sore and tender for weeks!!

It felt exactly as you described - like a piece of tube in the vein. Anyway, at about 11 weeks PO I phoned my surgeon about it as it still hadn't gone and he said he'd see me! (I only wanted some advice over the phone!!). When I saw him, he explained that this happens sometimes and is basically scar tissue on the vein and it will go.

He told me to massage it. At 3 and a half months PO, I can still just feel it - it's now very small, and the soreness has gone (about 4 weeks ago).

Sarah, if i were you id phone the Hospital up and get them to check it out asap, cause if this is the case, and they have left abit of the pipe in you, then thats absolutely disgusting and slight neglegance on their part, and also after a while it could start getting infected!!!
Do you think it could just be you're vain slightly swollen though, although still get it seen to especially if its making you feel abit queezy!!!
Ive seen your pics by the way, and i think your boobs look really nice, and just the right size and shape for your frame. well done!!
Yes, I've got a Solicitor to fight my case, although hes waiting for me to have my Re-op so he knows exactly who's neglegant, Mr Paganell or The Hospital Group Admin, but either way i have a case!!!!!

I thought it was the vein but everyone else said that it doesnt look or feel right, so I think I will give them a call on and check it out. The women didnt seem to be to comfortable when she was doing it so im a little worried!

Thank you for your comment on my boobs. They are ok, I think i was hoping for perfection and that was never going to be after having and breastfeeding two kids. Worth it though!

I hope you come out of this whole thing with more money than you paid out and lovely boobs x although im sure you would have preffered not to go through this whole thing but you may be better off at the end of it. Just make sure you get everything you can out of them. No one should have to go through what you have, especially when you pay so much for a specialised service!!
