Well i had my op back in June, so im coming into my 4 month. and to be honest, my scars are still purple. I massage them twice a day with bio-oil, but they are still purple. I have another post op check with my surgeon on 22nd of this month so will ask about them then. Sorry if that doesnt help much! and yes, sometimes i think they are quite wide like you described. like they have stretched a bit

Whole thread for the following message:
| Thread started by: | " what did your scars look like after ba?" Posted by tinklee 14 October at 12:14
hi all,
am 5 days post op today and just had my first shower and changed my dressings for the first time.
i just wondered what your scars looked like after 5 days? mine are purple and seem quite wide (not across the nipple but the width of the scar) i'm a bit worried that they are going to be big, ugly things?
i had dr tondu at elyzea so i know he comes highly recomended, but i hear people talking about these tiny hairline scars, i wonder if its because i had a big impant? (400cc)
please help!

I also had my op in June and am 4 month PO, and my scars are still purple, though I think the last couple of weeks they have started to fade a bit. I think age has something to do with it ... the younger you are the quicker you heal. I'm 40 now, so expecting it to take a while longer!!

i'm only 22 so i guess i just don't heal well!! Hopefully my bio-oil perseverance will pay off soon! it does say you should use it for at least 3 months to see effects. Fingers crossed!

Maybe skin colour has an effect, too - I have very pale skin, and I have noticed in pictures that the scars of girls with more olive coloured skin seem to fade so much quicker. (It doesn't seem fair!)
I'm still using the bio oil, so fingers crossed too!

I wouldn't compare with anyone, as everyone heals differently, and for the first month I wouldn't worry, as they look quite gross at first, my scars were quite think and red at first, but now they are a fine pink line (7 weeks after my op). Did you have a nipple incision? I hear they heal even better than the crease incision, so don't worry and give yourself time to heal! xx

not sure if this helps as i had crease incision but when i saw my scar for the first time it looked really big compared to all the pics of others i've seen--now 3weeks later, they look loads smaller/seem to of shrunken.don't worry hun its really early days. Xx

i had my ba in march and now, 7 months on, i really have to point my scars out to ppl when i show them. they've healed so well.
they were literally invisable after 4 months. i'd never have dreamt they'd heal as well as they did especially as a black woman. i was dreading getting those keloid scars but i was lucky.
my surgeon did a wonderful job too so i guess he takes some credit as well.
