See I can't use the beds as I'm convinced I will be one of the statistics if I do, cancer in my family so really wouldn't want to risk it and I burn easily
The salon spray kind do seem to get the thumbs up here, but might try the booth first as I live in a village and they all talk here, that or wait til I next go to London!!

Thanks Annie

"Fake tan, sprays, booths etc?"

Hi everyone, I am really pale naturally think Irish/English rose (I say the milky bar kid) but I would really like to have one of those lighter golden tans. I used the dove gradual tanner but that goes too dark even though its for fair skin and although the johnsons one gives a nice colour after the 3rd application it gets sort of patchy and not very nice.
Has anybody found a product they can recommend for lighter skin?
Also I know in some tanning places they have those booths where it sprays you and has different shades, is it any good? Really don't want to end up orange or dirty looking iykwim and can't bear for a spray tan by a human being, too embarassed!!!

Thanks girls, I hope you can help

I've used Johnsons / Loreal .... lots of different ones in the past ....... but I've gotta say, I bought a bottle of St Tropez this summer .... & I can honestly say, it's the most natural self tans I have ever used ....... It does cost a little bit more than the others ..... but you would get quite a few aplications out of one bottle ....... You'd need to use latex gloves to apply it ....... but I'm sure you'd love the result ......... I shopped around and got mine for £18 ........ and I didn't bother buying the step 1 or step 2 ..... it's not necessary ....... just buy the step 3 (tanning lotion) and bathe / exfoliate / moisturise ..... and then apply the tanning lotion ........ Hope this helps ....... I'll never use anything other than this one now ...... for me personally, it's the best

Im am also very very pale and take ages to tan naturally, I use XEN - TAN, its fantastic, they only do it in dark lotion, but honestly first coat goes on a lovley colour which is enough for me, and if you need more colour you just apply more coats, it also wears off, which is great its last ages and really will not go patchey no mater what.

I bought mine off ebay was about £18.00 but can but it off there website will cost about £25 off there, but is worth every penny and lasts ages. There website is www.xentan.co.uk

I must have tried every fake tan and i can say nothing compares to this, all the celebrities use it, so if its good enough for them, is good enough for me

Hope this helps you hun

"Loreal sublime"

hi sam

i use loreal sublime its a gel it can cost around 10pounds depending were you get it superdrug i think or boots. what i do for a gradual build up and less streak is this , when you get out the shower and you use your general moisteriser eg johnsons, nivea squeeze it into your hands and add a good couple of blobs of the sublime, rub your hands together then apply. i will do one arm till it blends in the same amount of other then legs etc etc i then wash my hands after. you can use the same amount of baby lotion as sublime and it does not streak as much as just using it straight on.

For a cheapy i find the nivea good for coverage but it is smelly. Best one is st. topez I've got the spray but find it really difficult to do myself so thinking of investing in the mouse as friends have said that is easier to apply. When I got married my friend used dermalogica (think thats it) and that was an awesome colour i looked sun kissed and healthy not orange but I think it pricey

"Spray tans"

there are spray tanning places which have a booth which is private and you dont have to be sprayed by anyone.... I would def recommend them as I always burn on sunbeds!!!! Oh and the spray tan place had different levels of tanning and as im quite pale i used to use the lightest one and it looked great!!!

i have never found a gradual tanner or a tanning lotion that doesnt streak
im a total sunbed worshipper, and its killing me being away from them right now as im only2wks post op
when i was pregnant i used
dove or johnsons lotion but after3 applications as u say it goes streaky and patchy, horrible realy
my friend used rimmel wash off and it looked great on her but streaked on me
fake bake fake tan is ok still streaky just not as much
piz buin i tryed a few year back and it was good2
or there r spray ones by loreal which r actually quite good, they work gradually so dont tend to streak
i tried all theese during my pregnancies but would rather get a sunbed myself
good luck

ps try going for a spray tan. i went for one for my sisters wedding. i just stood in my pants/thong and the girl sprayed me, it only takes5min. lasts about a week so ud have to g every week

"Foolproof!"

I use ' Make Believe' which you can get in Boots, it's quite expensive but it gives a great colour and it is foolproof! St Tropez have also got a new one out in a smallish tube which is very good, don't let the colour scare you tho, it does rub in well and dries virtually straight away. Only downside is you got to be quite quick. Best to do both legs first, wash your hands and then put a blob on face pad and do your feet then do your body and arms and wah hands well! When you go to bed do the tops of your hands with a face pad using a blob on each and massage in remembering to take it up past your wrist and wipe gently down your fingers. Test it out over a w/end! Otherwise just get a spray tan in the salon and do a top up yourself every couple of days.

Good Luck x

LOL that sounds fun, knowing me I will sooo mess up as I get into a little panic when things need to be done quickly!
I will try the salon first and when I've nothing to do at a weekend I can give it a go, better still school holidays first time round

Thanks Donna
