| Thread started by: | " hypertrophic scars after uplift " Posted by sassy166 21 November at 12:00
Hi,
Firstly, I would like to say 'Hello' and a big 'Thank You' for all your support and advice over the last year - even though I haven't joined in, it has really helped me reading all the different advice!! I love this site!!
I had an uplift and implants in March at Elyzea and everything ran smoothly! They were excellent!
However, a few months ago the scarring started changing I have hypertrophic scars around the areola I was worried about the scarring before having them, but didn't think I would get this It's such a shame because everything else about them is so perfect!! (the size, shape, symmetry, cleavage etc).
I went for another check up recently in London and have been advised to use the silicone patches or cream for a few months ( I have been using the patches as I thought the cream would rub off - not sure if I'm right about this so any advice from girls who have used it would be good) and to massage the scars. If this doesnt work they said they would try cortisone injections.
I just wondered if anyone else had had anything like this and whether it improved at all? The rest of the scarring is going really well. Some of the scarring around the areola has changed into a thin white line already, it's mainly the tops of the scars where I have the problem...
Even though I'm going through this at the moment I still think it was the best thing I have ever done for myself and would definitely go through it again!! I am extremely proud of my new boobs, just really sad about the hypertrophic scarring...
Any advice about this would be great... Thank you!
xx

Does anyone have any before and after photos of bad scarring after ba/uplift?
Just a little worried the scars will stay wide after this...

Thank you!!
I do hope they're not keloid - they sound so similar... My PS didn't give it a name but from what have read and looked up it sounds more like Hypertrophic, but keloid does sound similar too...
It is around the scar area at the top and is pink and thick but hasn't continued getting bigger.
The PS said we should try these patches first and if that doesn't work she will bring over courses of injections, so I would go to London and have them done there every six weeks or so.
Thank you Nadiya xx

Sounds like your ps will look after you. I just trawled through my old posts to find this site:

Look through it, the 'evidence' seems very good at reducing hypertrophic scarring, might be worth trying xxx

I get hypertrophic scars, I am a redhead with fair skin and as far as I know its more common the paler you are. I have been using bio oil to massage the scars and using silicone patches and there has been a great improvement. Still purply in places but no where near as bad. My hysterectomy scar did the same and took 18 months to end up the thin white line it is now. It gets better honestly, we just take a little lnger than most xxxx

| | "Sorry to hear that!" Posted by sassy166 21 November at 14:39
Thank you for replying!
I am pale and have used bio oil. I have only just started using the patches so keeping my fingers crossed...
Are yours thicker too, or would this mean they were keloid instead - the PS didn't give it a name, just said what to do about them.. Patches first, then injections if that didn't work...
The bottom semi circle area around the areola has healed beautifully into a thin white line, its just the top section that is thicker, pinker and raised
It started about three months after the op. Op in March, started getting like that end of June/July.
If it was the area underneath it wouldn't be so bad, but its horrible looking down at it... They were doing so well!
Thank you for replying!! Glad to hear your scars are healing nicely now.

My scars were lumpy in places about half a centimetre wide. Since using the oil and patches the lumpiness has gone and its just purply now but getting better by the week.
|
| | "Yep! that's exactly how they sound! " Posted by sassy166 21 November at 16:00
Yes, that's how they sound... When they heal though do they stay as a thick white line instead of a thin one? The bottom bit has healed beautifully into a thin white line...
Are yours underneath? How long have you been using the patches and oil? Do you massage the lumps too - I was told this was good!
So many questions, sorry!!

Goldenbrown gave me advice re the lumpiness, you kinda pinch and roll it between your fingers a bit, it hurts a tad but it has worked. I have been using the patches for 2 months and as for healing it is slightly wider than other girls scars but only very slightly, nothing I am bothered about. Mine are crease scars.
