I had my 2 week appointment last thursday and had dissoluble stitches trimmed (was also glued) and steri strips put on - was given extra strips and told to keep scars covered for 4 more weeks. Can now shower and have to dry steri strips with cool setting of hair dryer.

i have to put steri strips back on after every shower / bath for three months, the ps said it helps the scars heal faltter ( i had incision all the way round the nipple) i think you'll be fine keeping your dressing on for as long as it makes you feel better hun, can't do any harm.. xx

"Had ba 3 weeks ago..." Posted by beautybew 30 November at 22:13
had my dressings taken off after 10 days and the wound wasn't properly healed so nurse put steri strips on and told me to wear them for a couple more days, my mum just kept checking and told me when they looked healed enough to take them off. Nurse also advised not to have a shower until they were more healed as there;s so many bugs in the water these days. I never had iodene strips at all.....maybe just wear some steri strips for a while to feel you;re still protected?? and keep out of the water until they're def closed up to avoid any more nasty infections. good luck babe and i hope evrything turns out amazing for you this time xxx

not sure about the stiches as mine were ok but the BIG blister that i got on my boob i had to go have dressed and iodene put on it did help the healing process for that ( was a mess too i felt). so i would say keep with the iodene either until you run out or you feel they have healed enough to scab over properly. remember the iodene is wet so the scabs wont be able to develope properly if you keep it on too long. i think i had the iodene on the blister for about 5 days and then it started to feel better so i took it off and the scab healed over
btw took just over 4 weeks for my original scars to heal and all the scabs come off.
