Hi everyone,
I have wanted to have a BA for as long as I can remember, but one of the things that have held me back is mammogram screening.
I know these screenings are a very effective way of picking up any abnormalities, however, are they as effective with an implant? and how uncomfortable are they(with an implant?)
Has anyone had a mammogram with implant?
Got any feedback/ideas or info you can share with me on this?
Would be much appreciated.
Thank you x

Hi, I was told and have read that by having breast implants it pushes your own breast tissue towards the surface so lumps are easier to detect. As for mammograms they just take pictures from another angle. I have read somewhere that an extra screening with ultrasound should be done as a precaution. Hopes this helps x

hey, i have no experience with the whole mammogram thing but from doing some research it seems that they do not affect the results and things can still be picked up from the screening with implants, as long as you tell the nurse doing the screening so that she knows what to look out for! if you google mammograms and breast implants there will be lots of information. hope that helps a little!
