Hi! I had Ba behind the muscle and a uplift. I saw four surgeons who all recommended behind the muscle. I went from a size 18 and a 38f to a size 8-10 36B with no tissue at the top of my breast and LOTS of excess skin.
My personal experience is that it was exremely painful for the first 4 days and i was a complete invalid! By about 10 days i could practically do anything except lift or carry. I have a 5yr old and its heart breaking not hugging and lifting him but i think he understands.
Its been two weeks now and im working, hoovering and doing everything but lift... 5th gear in the car is the only thing that really makes me go ow! I met 3 women today at the clinic who had the smae op as me and their recoveries were way better tahn mine. It is an individual thing.
Good luck and all the breast hun Lisa x

Hi
I had my BA under the muscle on 26th Feb and I have to say I didn't find it as painful as I thought it was going to be. I had under the muscle as I didn't have much breast tissue. Had 300cc in each breast.
The first few days I just felt tightness around my bust (as if I had squeezed myself into a dress which was two sizes too small), I took pain killers for the first two days then nothing after. Wouldn't even say it was painful just uncomfortable. Felt very tired for about the first four days, but had a lot of help from my husband and Mom. Went back to work today for the first time (clerical work) and have felt fine. Lifting and stretching was a problem for me, and depending how old your children are you won't be able to pick them up, I have a three year old and an eight year old, and I still feel it will be while before I will be picking up my 3 year old. Housework: well that will just have to wait (easier said than done I know sometimes).
If possible, I don't know your situation, but if anyone offers to help around the house afterwards take them up on their offer, you are paying a lot of money for the op you don't want things to go wrong. Make yourself number one priority!!!!
Hope that helps
Di xx

Hi again
I must say 10 days on and hardly any tightness, just every so often I feel a slight muscle spasm. For the last three days I've been able to put my clothing on over my head so much easier. A tip fo us Mom's: it might be worth investing in a foot stool for the kitchen, I found reaching up to the kitchen cupboards very restricting and even now I feel a little discomfort when I reach up, a foot stool which would give you a couple of feet more height would be ideal, but luckily as my youngest daugther uses a step stool for the sink/toilet I've been using that! Also for the first week I found getting out a bed a problem, as I was told not to use my upper arms to get out of bed, try getting out of bed without using your arms!!! So much better now.
Breasts still sittng very high, not a lot of softening yet but don't look so pointed as they did. Was worried a few days ago as they seemed to have got smaller than I had expected, but have been told that having BAs under the muscle you have to wait for the "fluffing" of the implant to get the true size. Am seeing my nurse tomorrow so hopefully she can confirm this for me. I do remember my clinic manager telling me realistically give your breasts 4-6 months to totally settle in to their "natural" shape. Role on the summer!!

You have intrigued me... what is this 'fluffing' you have to wait for? I am having BA in 9 wks, under the muscle. I am on this site trying to get as much info as I possibly can before the date, so I don't freak out if anything looks odd! XxX

Hi
Fluffing I've been told is what happens once the muscle has allowed the implant to take its place in the pocket the surgeon has made, ie when the implant is tucked very tightly under/behind the muscle, you need to wait for the muscle to relax which then releases the implant into its jelly like/natural boob look effect which then gives it more volume. At the moment I look as though I have two round, tight balls stuck high on my chest, but after the fluffing I should have a more natural flexible look. At the moment my boobs just don't move, so lookig forward to a more wobbly boob. Had my check up with the nurse and she told me the muscle almost flattenes the implant until the muscle has adapted to having the implant behind it in your body, then it gently (may up to 4 months) will allow the implant to be released into the pocket the surgeon has made, and that's when you will get your final look/result, almost like fluffing a pillow to get maximu volume.
Hope I make sense, not sure anyother way to explain it.
