| Thread started by: | "Looking for advice on these new lunch hour breast surgeries - are they safe?" Posted by jax101 12 November at 16:34
Hi, I'm a BA virgin and don't really know much about it, and what's always worried me most is scarring and looking/feeling unnatural - but I really want to do it soon. Now I've heard that by next year they will be doing breast surgeries that only last an hour! It says:
"Women in the UK will be getting breast enlargements during their lunch time as soon as 2008, according to a new report. A new breast enlargement procedure, called Celution, takes just over an hour and involves injecting a supercharged fat mixture into the breast tissue."
I want to know if anyone thinks this will be safe and if it will cause less scarring? The rest of the article explaining it is here:

Also, if you have normal implants can you feel the actual implant inside there?
Thanks x

Not sure I like the idea of my bum fat being relocated to my boobs!
I also don't like that way they've tried to make conventional breast surgery sound so horrendous either like they're using scare tactics! How mean!
Personally I'm going to stick with my plastic boobies because this method has been tried and tested and perfected over at least the last 30 years. In theory the 'bum fat' method sounds good but it sounds like they 'grow' over a period of months and there's no guarantee as to what size you will end up - they say "as much as two cup sizes" which is quite vague. I'd also prefer to see how they develop it over the next 10 years or so and whether it actually works long term.
As for scarring, I'm going to have more than most as I need an areola lift as well as a BA. From the pictures I've seen so far the BA scars are usually really fine scars (if your surgeon is good) and they heal up really well. I havent seen any pictures of anyone who has had the lift as well but I have to have the procedure if I want my new boobs to look good and am already lucky as I don't need a full anchor lift which would mean even more scarring...
The other thing to consider is the placement of the implant will totally effect whether it looks natural or whether you end up looking like posh spice. They say under the muscle or partial unders look more natural and dramatically reduce the risk of rippling and capsular contracture. But then there are people on here who have enough natural breast tissue to have overs and they look natural as well. You would be better going for a consultation with a couple of people just to see what they advise and then seeing if anyone on here had the same op and if they have any pictures to share. I found that really useful once I knew exactly which procedure I was looking ar having.
Hope this helps and good luck! Natalie x

Sorry don't know much about the Lunch Hour Breast Surgery but I've recently had a normal silicone and they honestly don't feel that different slightly harded but they soon start to soften up and my scars are about 4cm long under each breast.

That's really interesting, I thought you could feel it inside really blatantly and wasn't sure. I'm also worried about the pain to be honest. This is the article on KeepTheDoctorAway.co.uk, I think it sounds really good but perhaps too good to be true???
Lunch Hour Breast Enlargements on the Horizon
Women in the UK could be getting breast enlargements during their lunch time as soon as 2008, according to a new report.
A new breast enlargement procedure, called Celution, takes just over an hour and involves injecting a supercharged fat mixture into the breast tissue.
Californian biotech company Cytori Therapeutics plans to roll out a programme that will see the fast-track process introduced across Europe by early next year.
And, the process has already been approved in Germany, which means that it is legal across the EU. But doctors will have to wait until clinical trials end in early 2008 before they can recommend the procedure to their patients.
For the enlargement, fat is taken using a minor liposuction procedure under local anaesthetic from a patients buttocks or belly. The useful stem cells are separated out, and an hour later, a dose of stem and regenerative cells is packaged into a cartridge ready for re-injection, without any culture or manipulation. The breasts then enlarge over about six months.
The enlarged breasts, which can be up to two cup sizes bigger, look more natural than surgically enhanced breasts and the process is not expensive. There is a dirty little secret in the stem cell therapeutics, says Cytoris president and founder Marc Hedrick. Nobody talks about how expensive it is. But at a few thousand pounds per cartridge, the Cytori system is no more expensive than conventional surgery.
The idea of using fat to reconstruct parts of the body is not new. But breast reconstructions have failed in the past because fat tends to be reabsorbed into the rest of the body. This problem was overcome by mixing fat-derived stem cells from the Celution system with the patients own fat.
Cytori Therapeutics initial focus will be on reconstructive surgery in breast cancer patients, repairing partial mastectomies. Clinical trials involving breast cancer patients are underway.
Conventional breast surgery also requires only about an hour for the actual operation, but the complete process is lengthy and painful: the surgeon creates cuts in the skin underneath the armpit, nipple and breast before sliding in the implant (usually made from silicone) and stitching up the cuts. The procedure causes scarring and requires about a week off work for recovery and a month without exercising. Plus, you then have to avoid exposing your cuts to the sun for a year to prevent ugly scarring.
