Hi Gina
Yes - I have a capsular right now and am seeing my surgeon again in 5weeks so he can make an appointment to re-do it (have to wait a year from original surgery).
It isn't, and never has been, painful though and the only reason I went to see him again is because it was slightly a different size and shape a couple months after I got a nasty infection.
Won't go into too much detail because I don't want to bore everyone with the story again but if you want to know more, please feel to PM me and I will tell you everything,
love Trace xx

"Capsular contracture" Posted by pearlofsixtynine 3 December at 17:05
Hi there Gina
Did you have overs or unders? The reason I ask is that Taimur Shoaib (Plastic Surgeon) wrote the following answer to a very similar posting:
I would say that capsular contracture is a process that is less common under the muscle and usually takes a very long time (ie a few years) to develop.
CC occurs because whenever we place a foreign material inside someone, the body recognises it as being foreign. Because of this, the body creates scar tissue around the foreign body, and this is normal. What isn't normal is that over the years, the amount of scar tissue gets thicker and thicker. As it does this, the scar tissue then starts to contract. As it contracts the natural shape of the implant is distorted to something more round (spherical). As the distortion continues the implants can change shape, the scar tissue can be felt and finally it can become painful.
The whole process takes years and is more likely to occur if there's been infection, with implants above the muscle and with smooth rather than textured implants.
Implants placed under the muscle do take longer to settle, and occasionally they move upwards, because the implants are pushed that way with muscle contractions.
Even if you did have unders, to put your mind at rest do see your surgeon

Thanks I will. I had them done with Harley Medical so I am covered.
I have been trying to convince myself that it's still recovery pains etc but it has gone on a long time and just in one breast. I have been doing the "ignore it and it'll go away" but think it's time to take it further!

Sorry for asking 6 months on, but how did you get on? I'm 6 months post op and petrified that I have CC. I took my Staffie dog a walk last sunday and I'm not sure whether he's hurt mu muscle pulling me or whether I have CC starting!
