"I was ill" Posted by charlie3310 4 January at 23:16
when i had mine done this wednesday, i had a sore throat & wasnt feeling great but the aneasthetist listened to my chest & said as long as i dint have a temp or chest infection it was fine. i went ahead but now i am recovering a little slower, my cold has come out more & i am a little bunged up etc, actually my recovery isnt great so maybe this is why? hope it all goes well for you & good luck. charl. "I was bunged up when i had my ba!" Posted by jb8282 3 January at 22:53
Mine was in October, and I developed a stuffy nose a couple of days before my op. Since I was told to avoid menthol etc I couldn't use Vicks or take Lockets etc, so I just topped up on Vitamin C (my co-ordinator had said it was fine to take that). On the morning of my op I told the nurse I was slightly bunged up, and was told that it was ok provided I didn't have phlegm (if that's how you spell it). It's something to do with the breathing problem when you've got tubes in your throat - presumably if you're coughing up gross stuff it can cause problems. Thankfully I wasn't doing that! Best to mention it to the nurse etc on the day of op so that they can monitor your breathing closely.
