"Where can you get 5 star service? money no object ..."

I know 'good' surgeons can work in several different clincs, but what's your opinion on where to get the very very best **service** (I don't care about price - I'll willing pay 20 grand if I thought it was going to make the experience more dignified).

By 'good service' I mean things like:
i) your own room (though I appreciate there are also advantages to sharing in that you can possibly gain social support - depending on your room mate);
ii) the anaesthetist and nurse **coming to you** in your room to give you a sedative and you knowing little else about the event, as opposed to you having to walk down to the op room in a gown, lie on a table and be painted up with iodine (which I bet they haven't bothered to heat up to body temperature);
iii) the option of staying a couple of extra days to convalesce (for me, this is a private matter and I don't want to have to rely on friends (or my 67 year old mum!) to be my nursemaid for a week - surely this is a service clinics should be able to offer us);
iv) no backchat from bored, underpaid, stressed nurses ...
Is there such a location?? If so, I don't mind paying a lot of money for it!! Judging from what I've read from this forum so far it does seem to be a bit of a lucky dip as to the quality of **service** we encounter ...

And if such a place doesn't exist, maybe we girls should start lobbying the mainstream clinics for these kinds of facilities???

Sorry for such a long post and many thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions !!!

Jane

I would highlighy recommend Dr.Armstrong who works with Nuffield Windsor and BMI.

I had my own private room and nurse on tap (flat screen tv etc in room), i also had the top anaesthetist in the hospital who came and spoke to me before the op.

My surgeon was also really picky and fussy about my care (the nurses told me he likes to do things a certain way etc).

My doctor originally gave me his name as shed worked with him.

Im now 4 months post and i love them. I had 280cc anatomicals. If you want to see pics my user is : ss283 and password: white.

He also works for the NHS which is a good thing to look for because the surgeons constantly improve their techniques and are used to working on difficult patients.

Let me know if you want his website URL or number.

"Bupa (go private)"

Hi.

Going privates a lot nicer !!!

I had cosmetic surgery in the :BUPA Wellesley Hospital Eastern Avenue
Southend-on-sea, Essex. SS2

The whole experience was first class. The staff would bend over backwards for you. My room was very nicely decorated, en-suite, all facilities you could wish for. Open visiting times. The meals were fantastic (Im very fussy).

I also have had cosmetic surgery at The Heath London.
It was not the same at all. Dont get me wrong the staff were brilliant (you cant knock them at all). The place itself leeves a lot to be desired. There really is no comparison !!!

If you can afford it, look for the best.

Thanks, I'm quite fussy too ... I think it really helps your confidence if the place is in excellent condition and the staff are treating you with due respect!

...or Bupa. I went with BMI The Saxon Clinic - they have hospitals all over the country. It was pretty much what you seem to be looking for. Anaeshthetist, nurse and surgeon come to your room to speak to you, explain procedures, take obs etc and you are taken to theatre in a wheel chair. My surgeon even helped me do up my gown. I wasn't given any sedatives in my room though but I suppose this depends on how nervous you are. Its a private hospital so you can pay to stay as long as you like. You have your own room with ensuite bathroom and TV. Food was great-you can get what you like at whatever time. My particular surgeon does not guarantee he will discharge you the following day anyway as he will make you to stay longer if he thinks it necessary at no extra charge. If you leave before he discharges you then you would have no Guarantee.

Hope this helps....Happy Shopping, hope you find what you are looking for!
"Sounds good!"

Thanks, yes, that's more the kind of thing I'm looking for. As I'm single, I like the idea of staying in the hospital for those first few days when you need looking after. My friends are great in many ways, but sometimes they're not the most discrete people! btw, who was your surgeon?
Cheers,
Jane

I'm sure that kind of service must be out there if you are willing to pay for it. It's probably not the norm , but you should ring around a few different places & see what they have on offer ... I reckon, if you are willing to pay, the service can be provided 'within reason'. Good luck ... I hope you find what you are looking for Jane

for your thoughts - I personally feel that these kinds of "environmental" issues (like room, staff attitude, exposure to the 'procedural' aspects of surgery etc etc) are quite important to reducing stress levels and aiding recovery!
Have you had anything done yourself?

"Yes jane i had a ba "
Posted by thessaloniki2 14 April  at  20:30

I had a BA at The West Yorkshire Clinic (Ramsey Health Care UK) (Bingley) which is a private hospital. I had my own room with TV & en suite bathroom. I got my package through My Breast ... so I'm not so sure they would offer quite the service you are looking for .... although, I didn't have anything to complain about.
I was booked in for a 1 night stay. It might be worth giving them a ring to ask about staying longer if that is what you wish to do. There was a reasonably good meal selection to choose from but I didn't get the chance to sample much of it due to only being there for 1 night.
Just a thought: maybe you could even cut out the middle man (My Breast) and book your sugery yourself ? ... but I'm not sure. Google West Yorkshire Hospital ... the phone number will be on the website ... give them a ring, see what they have on offer

Thanks again ... from what I've heard so far, getting out of London seems to increase the quality. I'll try your suggestions - I guess your happy with the outcome so far (in terms of look/feel etc)?
