"Going with children - things to do & accomodation?"

I'm going to Elyzea in June and my sister is coming with me and so is my 3 year old. We will only be staying 2 nights, but will try and get there by 12ish the day before so we can do touristy things. Is there anything good to do in Brussels?

Also anyone got any ideas of accomodation (cheap) with a child, where maybe the child is free.

Also the day I have my surgery, I will go alone and get a taxi back to the hotel alone, but my sister will be there waiting for me (just don't want my boy at the hospital). Will they believe that I have someone with me, just after reading that they wouldn't operate if you're alone I am not sure whether I should just tell them my sister will come and pick me up after the op?

"Going with children"

Hi I went in December to have my arms lifted and I went alone, leaving my children at home with my partner. I stayed at Hotel Winston which is very much a B & B but is on the Elyzea Website under recommended hotels. It is the closest to the clinic, literally ten minutes walk if that. You could all walk to the clinic, the waiting room is huge and there were lots of partners and children waiting. There is also a large supermarket literally seconds away from the clinic which you can see from the clinic, I went in there just before my operation to buy some food for afterwards in case I wasn't upto much. You won't even need a taxi back as if you are having twilight sedation you will be absolute fine after an hour or so rest, I walked back from the clinic on my own and it was really nice to be walking in the crisp cold air after being in the clinic. Good luck, you'll love it.

Regards

Heather

Hi there

I went with my husband and 2 kids (7 and 5 years) in December. The city is really nice, got a lovely market which the kids loved, and we found it hard to keep them out of the chocolate shops!!

We stayed at the Prince de Liege - they have family rooms. It's about 15 minutes by car but we needed the family room cos the kids are too small to sleep in a room on their own. It seems to me that family rooms are always quite difficult to find for some reason. Sorry I can't remember how much we paid but it certainly wasn't expensive. And the breakfast was fab.

I think Elyzea will be fine with you having your sister waiting at the hotel. Having said that, I think your son would be fine if you did change your mind and want your sister with you. Elyzea's really not like a hospital at all. We had no choice but to take our kids with us and for my consultation (I went for the consultation/op in Brussels thing) they waited in the waiting area with my husband. They have a kids play corner with lego and stuff, so my two were perfectly happy. I certainly don't think your son would think he was anywhere where mummy might get hurt!

Hope this helps a bit. Elyzea were fab; you'll be in safe hands with them.

Julie
