| Thread started by: | "Sedation and nerve block instead of anesthetic ..anyone ??" Posted by kerryblue1 25 May at 14:31
Hi, Just wondered if anyone had had their ba done without anesthetic .? I have been told its best to do it this way rather than the anesthetic as it helps with healing and recovery plus i have a heart problem that could get a little tetchy with the anasthetic, Just wondered if anyone had experience of this that could share with me..
Thanks Girls

I am sure it's a perfectly acceptable alternative and sounds like it would be better for your recovery. For myself however I don't think there's enough 'sedative' around to take away the nerves I'd be feeling. I'm happy to go with my GA and take a little more time in recovery.
Might not be any consolation but I have seen some procedures on TV carried out this way so it's not as bizarre as you might think. Also, I would hazard a guess that your surgeon will therefore have to work in a gentler way - you've seen the progs when patients are unconcious there's no pussy footing around is there but if you're aware of what's going on it bodes well that things will be treated a little nicer perhaps.
