Hi Guys,
Been trying for a baby for 3 months now, and have usually ovulate 11 days after the last day of my period, however this month im so confused and cant work out whats happening, perhaps u can shed some light on this. As i normally ovulate 11 days after my period i began ov.testing on day 8 to no avail,no surge showing, im now on day 13 and have had alot of the usual slippery mucus that normally indicates ovulation for the past day and a half, however the test line on my strips is still lighter than the control which indicates no LH surge, today will be our 5th day of having sex every day (we began day 8 just incase), i just dont get why my body is giving all the indicators of ovulation but there is no positive surge to be found, any ideas?- any help appreciated x

I tested positive last night and this morning and babydanced last night and will tonight too. Can you still get an LH surge put not produce an egg??? Someone said this to me this morning and am now really confused???

Hi Soph, I was wonderinng the same thing. I started ov tests yest, today is day 9 after period started, im still getting thick cream discharge at mo, but im going to test everyday. last month i was testing thro slimey days and ov stick still said neg (dont understand). im due on 5th june so hopefully ill get it right. we have been trying for 10 months but only started ov sticks last month. Have you ever had pos result ? also you must be on day 15 now - have you had pos result this month ?

Hi,
thanks for your message, well i did finally get a positive yesterday, although the slippery mucus normally associated with ovulation had been appearing for about 2 day prior to this with neg results. We had been having sex every day for 5 days prior to yest but in typical fashion for our relationship, we lost the house we were about to move into and my hubby had to work really late due to a stressy time at work so we missed the one day i was actually ovulating,am really sad about it today, all very unfair. I have tested again today there is a line but a tad lighter than the control line so i think i missed my surge.
My advice to you is to be persistent with the testing, our bodies are so incredibly complex and not always consistent, I have been off the pill for 3 months, the first 2 months i ovulated 11 days after my period, but this month had 2 wait till the 14th day for a surge, also the first month i ovulated for 2 days but the next 2 months have been a 1 day window only. Its so frustrating!!, I think the best thing is to trust your body, you will know when the mucus becomes slippery and then its time to go for it, hope this helps, wishing you all the luck in the world, fingers crossed for us both xx
"Which test"
Posted by couchy3 15 May  at  17:34

Can I ask which tests you are using and what time you use them. I got 20 for £5.99 (ovulation sticks) on the internet. Do you think these will be ok. I have to wee in pot let go to room temp then test, so ill test as soon as i get in tonight. Sorry to hear about your house.. that nust be annoying.
"Ov tests"

Hi couchy,
I got my tests off an internet site called access diagnostics for about the same price, i think they might be the same if not very similar, seem to be working for me ok , yes peeing in a pot is a pain i agree!!- losing our house yest was a nightmare but to be honest when i missed my surge it tipped me over the edge and ended up in tears!!! - im officially losing the plot! XX

Hi Girls,

Hope you dont mind me butting in on your conversation?!.... just wanted to let you know that:

Couchy - the ovulation strips you are using sound like the same one's i used

Sophz - i didnt manage to have sex on the day i got positive result for surge, but did so a couple days before and afterwards ( remember sperm can live for a few days )

And i am now 23 weeks pregnant!!!

Good luck to you both x
"Thank you"

Hi Summerlee,
Thanks so much, u have made me feel alot better, have been really down all day about missing my surge yest, hubby has promised we'll try this eve and we managed lots before the day of the surge, so fingers crossed. Its reassuring to know that it poss to still get preg. Congrats so much on your baby, always happy to hear someone's been a success, hopefully one day i'll join the club xx
"Legs up"
Posted by couchy3 15 May  at  20:17

Hi Sophz/Summerlee thanks for info re ov sticks. OK silly question time did/do any of you put legs up in air after intercourse to give sperm help in hand?
"Cycle"
Posted by couchy3 15 May  at  20:21

also Sophz what is your cycle, im 33 days normally but a friend of mine is 24 days. how can we be so different its mad !!!Also if you have period is it guarenteed you will ovulate ??
"Cycles"
Posted by sophz29 15 May  at  20:44

hi,
have been trying the legs up thing, but its so hysterical when you do it, that i normally only last about 5 mins before me and hubby burst into fits of laughter!. Apparently a period does not guarantee ovulation, i looked into this earlier in the week when i was worried about my surge and found that some women will not ovulate every cycle, and that this is quite normal. All this info can be really worrying which obviously doesnt help our bodies so i say just stay postive, you prob will have a surge but it may be later than you thought xx
"Muscus method have you tired it"
Posted by arran3 26 May  at  01:08

The muscus is in 3 stages 1st watery and clear 2nd stretchy between fingers 3rd stretchy and breaks this is your fertile time ovulation next day.
"Maybe"
Posted by couchy3 15 May  at  20:53

Hi, yer your prob right, this is why i am starting ov strips. I have always gone by what the internet tells me for most fertile days usually day 14. I just dont understand why it is taking so long (10 months). Anyway tested tonight and neg but then its only day 9, going to continue every day. Do you test in the evening ?
"Timing"
Posted by sophz29 15 May  at  21:11

hi,
I work from home so i test around the middle of the day as its not a good idea first thing in the morning xx
"Tenderness"
Posted by couchy3 16 May  at  16:40

Hi Sophz, wanted to ask do you suffer from breast tenderness? if so is it before, during, after ovulation orbefore, during, after a period. Reason i ask is mine have just started to hurt and im on day 10 (so hopefully will ovulate in 4 days. what about you ?
"Me too!"
Posted by sophz29 16 May  at  17:31

Hi,
we appear 2 be living parallel lives!, I never used to suffer breast tenderness apart from a bit of water retention causing soreness just b4 my period, however this has now changed since coming off the pill and trying. Last month i as convinced i was preg, and one of my main symptoms was really sore breasts and nipples throughout ovulation all the way up to when my period eventually turned up. This month my breasts are a tad sore again now ive finished ovulating, but I have accepted that this may just be the way my body is and have learnt that it doesnt mean im preg, just my body being wierd!
"Hey"

Hi Sohpz,

How you doing ? Im still doing my ov tests but keep coming back neg, do you think its ok to test at 5pm? and also do you think it matters that your urine should be room temp (as i never do)I have forgotton a couple of days so maybe I missed it. When are you due on and what is your cycle ?
"When to test! "
Posted by jupu5 23 May  at  16:38

Hi There,
I have been trying for 5 months for our second baby. I have been using the ov tests at home. On most Ovulation tests it suggests doing the test first thing in the morning. Your urine is much stronger first thing in the morning. Whereas testing throughout the day will be weaker and perhaps a little less accurate. your urine is going to be more room temperature by the time it sits in a pot for a few minutes. Good Luck!
