All ladies with pcos

Hi ladies,

Was just chatting to someone and she also has pcos we live in the same area but are going to different hospitals, she is a similar build to me, neither of us are over weight, and we are similar age, I was just given a healthy eating plan and no medication and this lady was given metformin but not told to change what she eats?? I just wondered what different ladies in different areas had been told to do.

Does anyone know what it is that actually stops u getting pg when u have pcos? I have been really good with my eating and am feeling great but stil no bfp!! I'm 7dpo today but feel completely normal and no different to any other month so not feeling hopeful! But u never know,

Anyway just thought Id ask to see how other people are dealing with their pcos, as I thought it strange we are similar but have been given totally different treatment.

Thanks ladies

And good luck xxx

I have pcos

Hi huni, I found out I had pcos in April and got oput on Metformin I lost a stone being on it( I was not over weight before) ive gone from a size 12 to 8-10 but I still did not ovulate so in late sept when AF came i started on clomid. I feel this is my best chance as last month it made me ovulate so im keeping my fingers crossed. But with PCOS we react badly to foods such a sugar etc, foods that cause a great high in the body and a great low very quickly so we need slow release like the GI diet in order to keep a balance because our bodies react badly to the imbalance hense the PCOS. But the cysts are actually caused by to much testostrone which is caused by our insulin resistance, the testostrone is our prob with to much you can not conceive as it out weighs the female hormones Hopefully that makes some sort of sense! So yes a certain diet would help but for some of us it's not enough!

Pcos

Hi Ladies,

I have PCOS and Hubby and I are trying for our first..

I was put on the dreaded DIANETTE for my facial hair, but found this to be of no use whatsoever.. I was also told just to stick to a low GI Diet, as i have trouble in losing weight..

Hubby and I have been trying for the lsat 2 months now had a BFN on 30th October, cos was due on 27th.. Its now 11th November and i still havent had AF... I am feeling quite tired and been getting lower ab pain like cramps and also having alot of headaches lately.. but am putting this all down to the Blood Pressure Tablets im on..

Off to see Docs tomorrow to see what it happening.. Maybe i tested too early x

Any ideas????

Hi

Hi Jo

Just popping over from the expecting forum!!! I have PCOS and ttc for 2 years and finally got my BFP in August. I was told to go on a low GI diet, but was also given Metformin to control insulin levels which apparently is a problem for ladies with PCOS. I had to lose weight so was also on other tablets, but I definitely think it is worth you asking your consultant about Metformin as most ladies with PCOS are prescribed it. My consultant has now told me to stay on it until I am 36 weeks as it reduces the risk of miscarriage and gestational diabetes.

Also I didn't have any symptoms whatsover when I got my bfp and didn't expect it at all so there is hope for you still this month!!! I still haven't had any symptoms apart from tiredness and I am now nearly 18 weeks!!!

Have you been on the Verity website? It is for ladies with PCOS and you will find some very useful advice on there.

Good luck

Ax
