"Just been to docs as worried i will mc again"
Posted by lisamerchant86 25 September  at  12:54

hey, just been to docs as i am worried about mc again.
she wasn't helpful. i am 6 weeks gone. i had pain in my side since weekend and really wanted a scan to see if the heartbeat was there. what i got told is that i am just over worring after my mc and that i should think possitive, easlier said then done and also i have age on my side and there's always a next time. all i wanted was reasurance, now i am really upset. my brother in law's girlfriend, gets one at the slightest thing and she had one at 6 weeks to make sure everything was ok (no bleeding no pains, she just wanted to make sue) and she's never mc and already has a 3 year old son. so i cant understand why i am worried and had a mc that i dont get the reasurance i am needing, thinking about find a private hospital to get the scan, i dont care how much is it as long as i know the wee 1 is safe and healthy

had a scare yesterday night after the pain was getting worse, went to gdocs and then to ARI, where i got poked about and a scan, saw a heartbeat and eveything is good, mw thinks its going to be a sussecful pregnancy, nothing looks wrong and is very pleased with the size and healthy lookig of the baby.

"I was the same and have had a private scan..."
Posted by sharonmanchester 25 September  at  13:33

Hi there,
I just wanted to let you know that I was in exactly the same position as you. I had 2 m/cs this year and my GP did refer me to the hospital for a scan but they refused to do it as it was for reassurance only.

I decided to apy £85 to have a private scan and went on Wednesday last week. I thought i was 7 weeks, but the sonographer said the gestation sac was 6 and a half weeks in size. Also, she could not find a ylok sac, fetal pole (baby) or heartbeat. I have to go back tomorrow for a follow up scan but it's not looking good. I have had no bleeding and only very mild cramping.

My advice to you would be to definately have a scan, but wait until you think you are about 8 weeks. That way, if you are out by a week then you should still be far on enough to be able to see something that will give you the reassurance you crave.

Even if the worst happens for me tomorrow, I will be glad i had that scan as I'd hate to have waited til i thought I was 12/13 weeks to find this out. I just think it's a disgrace that I had to pay, but that's the way things are in the NHS at the moment.

Good luck to you and fingers crossed that everything will be fine for you

Unfortunately the NHS see us as a number not an individual who has suffered a terrible emotional stress and loss. They see women like us everyday and see the pregnancy as a bunch of cells rather than the baby that we do.

It's a shocking way to treat people but unfortunatley thats they way they are. I've had 2 miscarriages in just over a year. I had early scans on both and on the second they told me to tell my GP as soon as I know I'm pregnant next time and inform him that the epu have said I MUST be referred to them. (Perhaps there's a sneaky tip there for you girls)

I hope everything goes well for you, I'm sorry that you have to go through this.

Good luck.

Sarah. xx

Hi girls,
Its my first time to put message on here and just thought I'd tell you about my experiences. I have had 2 previous miscarriages, both were 'missed miscarriages' where I went for the dating scan at 8 and unfortunately no heart beat
I'm now 7 weeks pregnant and I fully understand the anxiety you are all feeling. However, I have to wait until 8 weeks to be scanned, as it is not always possible to determine whether there is heart beat before this time and the pregnant lady will be sent away to come back a week later this often causes extra stress and worry as you don't know if baby is ok or not.
"Going private "

i am going private for a scan on the 6th of oct. so a week and a half away, can't wait. its costing me 65 pounds but whats money when you get told wether the baby is safe or not.
good luck to you

Good idea going for a private scan. You will only worry yourself too much if you don't find out that everything's ok.
Lots of luck for the 6th and I'm sure it'll turn out to be nothing wrong

I will, but you will probley hear me screaming if all goes well. i am pretty scared for someone else i know she was taken in to hospital yesterday with bleeding,(we are both roughly at the same week in our pregnancies) i just hope she doesnt have a mc, she's got a scan today to see and we havent heard yet. So thinking about her is taking my mind off of my worries. Thanks again
