Hi all, this is my first post and im not sure if i should even post but i need some advice, 5 days ago i took a test that showed positive then went to the dr who also produced a positive result, the problem was that due to being on the mini pill i very rearly have a period(every 3 months)so its a little hard to determine date of conception. The mid wife sent me for a scan today as i may be 13+5 weeks if they go by my last period, so a nuchal scan would be needed asap...went ,and the sonographer said there is a sac but they canot see an embryo. there is an embryotic pole(???) he said it may be very early stages of pregnacy or a miscarage...im not sure what to think as i have not had any bleeding or discomfort...do you think its possible i could have missed it or it was so slight it went un detechted..and if i have m/c then what happens to the sac?? i have spoken with my mum who has had a miscarage and she gives me the same symptons as everyone else...
I hope you dont feel im being out of place, just im v concerned.
thanks and love lenabean1

Hi Lenabean1,
I just wanted to let you know that I went throught the exact same as you and everything turned out finne.
I had 2 miscarriages (in May07 and Jul07) then found out I was pregnant straight after the 2nd m/c. As I hadn't had a period since the m/c I didn't know how far gone I was so went for a private scan. The sonographer found a sac but no heartbeat and said from the size of the sac she would have expected to see more in there. She told us to come back in a week which we did, and there was the heartbeat good and strong! Even the sonographer admitted she hadn't held out much hope for us and was really surprised to find everything ok.
I'm now 23 weeks and can't believe how stressed I was during that 1 week wait - I can still remember how every minute seemed to last forever, so I really sympathise.
Don't give up hope it could all be fine by the next scan. Take care and keeping everything crossed for you.
Big hugs S x

1ST thing- THINK POSITIVE, please. It may well be thats its too early to see embryo. have they gave you a date to go back for another scan. You anit had any bleeding or discomfort, which is a good thing. IF you mc then you may have a natural one, meaning you pass the sac some point, (which i had, very bad seeing it floating there) or if they do another scan and it shows a mc, they might give you a d&c, which i think is basicaly cleaning your insides out. sorry if tmi. You anit out of place, you have the right to ask us, and b v concerned. If the worse happens please stay posivite, you can fall pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy after a mc. I conviced 8 days after my mc and currently 21+3 into a healthy pregnancy. Take care, pm me anytime. Lis

i agree with claire dont read anything about it on the net, it just gets you worked up more and dont stress about it, its na good for eaither of you. Thats normal to go back to give it a chance, so dont worry about that, here's hoping you get to see a little heartbeat and a dot next week, its amazing seeing that. and remeber to think positive Thanks Take care hun. Hi hun,
just wanted to advise caution when it comes to what you read on the net, you can scare yourself to death and you can never be sure how accurate the info is. I've had 3 m/c's and I know how hard it is not to know for sure what's happening but I also know how easy it is to end up worrying about stuff you've read and it really doesn't help. The waiting is awful and I'm not sure docs understand how hard it is when they tell us wait and see but sometimes there really is nothing else they can do and we just have to sit tight and try and get through til the next scan as best we can. I found talking to the girls on here a massive help, everyone's different but other peoples experiences can often shed more light than dodgy medical sites! Will be keeping my fingers crossed things work out ok for you, let us know how you get on and message anytime if there's anything I can do.
Love and hugs, Clare xxx

just want to say thats the way to think. I know its hard but try not to think about it, it will just make it longer. i was lucky mine only lasted 26 hours (from the time i started bleeding and to it being confirmed and discharged from hospital) and that was the longest time ever coz i kept thinking about it. keep in touch and updated please. love lis
