"Miscarriage after trying for 12 months"

Hi

I am new to this site and was hoping for some advice.

My partner and I had been trying for a baby for 12 months, without much success, I had starting having a couple of tests and all seemed fine, although I do have PCOS.

I did fall pregnant just before Christmas, but unfortunately miscarriage over the new year. I was about 6 weeks, we were devastated and I still am. I haven't had a period since, its been about 6 weeks and we do want to keep trying, but with the lack of me having that first period, i am feeling a bit up in the air, so to speak. How long should it be before a period should arrive, or is that a 'how long is a piece of string' question.

x

"So sorry"

So sorry to hear about your m/c. I m/c on 2nd Jan at 9wks so sounds about the same time as you. I hope you are bearing up OK. I'm having good days and bad days now but mostly just want to get on with TTC again. The girls on here have been a massive help to me, I don't know what I'd do without them some days!!

My period came exactly 3 weeks after m/c but I was told at the hospital it could be anywhere between 4-6 weeks. Interestingly it's pretty much bang on back to my old cycle (one day out), so if you're feeling anxious might be worth trying to get your head round when you might have come on had the m.c not happened and watching that date. If it's already passed this month have a look at next months as it might be taking a while for things to settle is all.

Take care,
Love Nikki xx

Thanks for that.... Having PCOS my periods were fairly erratic so it may take a while i suppose.

Sorry you have been there too. Not the nicest of things to happen to anyone. I have found reading some of the posts on here a great help.

Thanks again
All the best

sorry to hear about your mc. In the 'text book', it say you should have a period between 4-6 weeks after a mc, but in reality, some folk on here have had periods after 3 weeks and someone else was 12 weeks. If you have had sex, i would do a pregnancy test, some folk and myself have fallen pregnant without having a period as you can be more fetile after a mc.
Hope that helps, pm me anytime.

Thanks very much.
I did do a test about a week ago, but was negative. May do one again soon if nothing shows up in the next week or so.
Was worried about being pregnant as they had said not to try until you've had at least one period, if not 3!! can't wait that long to try again, it took long enough the first time around.
Thanks for the advice.
xx

I just noticed what you said about being told to wait one if not 3 cycles before trying again - they told me that aswell, and you're the first person I've come across who was told that aswell!!

I think I'd go mad before consciously leaving it that long...

When then said to me at the hospital to wait i nearly died. It had taken so long for this to happen in the first place, so to be told to wait 3 months!! no way!!

I suppose it can be an emotional not only physical reasons why they say to wait.... like i said it took us so long the first time, theres no way i could wait that long to try again.

i would if nothing shows up and i am going to tell you what i was told by my doc when i went to get this pregnancy confirmed

'doctors perfer you to wait one cycle so it makes our job eaiser dating you, more for our benfits then yours but its really down to you when you are ready to try'.
So dont worry about it, just try when you and your guy are ready.

Thats really interesting..... thanks very much for that. Thought thats what they had scans for, but i suppose sending you for extra scans, costs more money!
"Its ok"

yeah nhs hates wasting money but depends on your nhs some folk get scans for reasurance and some folk just get told they cant have scans til 12 weeks and every will be ok, when you do fall pregnant again and you are told that fake some pains and then they will send you for a scan.
