Hi Just come across this site and found it really interesting and reassuring.
I had a miscarriage 5weeks ago 8thjan. I started bleeding at 10weeks was sent for a scan and it showed it had stopped developing at 6weeks.It was a massive shock and had to wait 2weeks, anyway it came away that night with no pain at all.Bled till the 13thjan then went for another scan on the 21st to make sure it had all come away and i it had.
This was a planned pregnancy after coming of the pill, my periods were pretty regular coming on each month between the22nd and 25th of each month.
Do you think i will come on for february? We want to start trying straight away. Im worried it will take a long time to come on again. was the miscarriage counted as a period??

just want to say i know what you're going through as i had a natural m/c at 10/11 weeks back in nov. Everyone is different but i think anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks although some people have started ealier or later than this. I personally had my first period about 30 days after the first day of my m/c but i bled for 2 weeks after and got an infection. My last cycle was 35 days so not really sure what i'll settle at, i used to be 28 days regular. If you're ready just start, you may ovulate before you have a period. Some people say to wait but my GP said after a m/c she was preg within 6 weeks, she just said you'll know when you're ready to start again.
Good luck honey

Hi Katherine
My experience was that I miscarried at 20 weeks - had to deliver. Didn't have a period but fell pregnant within 6 weeks of delivery. Docotrs don't have any medical reason why not to try again right away, although they do like to keep tabs on dates etc. I knew roughly just by the changes in my body (round about the time I did a test!) I had dates confirmed by a scan. Just go for it and all the best!

sorry to hear your bad news and welcome to the site, the girls on here have seen me through some rough times, hope we can do the same for you. It's really hard to predict what our bodies will do after m/c so there's really no easy answers to your questions but most docs will tell you to expect a period within about 4-6 weeks. My cycle pretty much went back to normal after all mine (had 3 now) and my first periods turned up around the dates I would have been due if I'd never fallen pregnant. It doesn't happen like that for everyone and in some cases can take months for everything to settle down but that's worst case scenario so try not to worry. Hope you're doing ok, message anytime if there's anything I can do. Take care,
love, Clare xxx
