I had a natural m/c at 7 weeks & an infection to follow, treated with antiobiotics, ive now come on my period & to start with it was heavy then it slowed off, today is the 2nd day &ive lost 2 clots, only about the size of a pound coin but its been very painful, the pains go right through to my back! Painkillers make it bearable. Is this normal? my scan showed there was nothing retained even though tests still said positive, hospital said it was just crazy hormones! Anyone got any advice? Any experience of periods after m/c would be greatly appreciated has ive worried im not normal here lol

Hi hun, hope you're doing OK....

Mine was the same - I had one period between m/c and falling pregnant again and it was awful, it was long, it was heavy, it was painful and it was clotty. Same as Rachel said - it was emotionally quite upsetting as it bought flashbacks of the m/c as it was more like that than any period I'd ever had, but in a strange sort of way it felt almost a relief to be getting a good 'flush out' almost (sorry - that sounds gross!)...I did find myself wondering where on earth it could all be coming from since it also came only 3 weeks after m/c!!!

I hope it can start to feel like things are settling back to normal for you a bit though. Keep me posted on the hospital reps coming to see you aswell hun, I'm still interested to hear how you go on that one.

After i m/c completely and had and infection like you i had a little bleed about 4 weeks later, then 4 days after that came on a really painful and heavy clotty period that lasted a week. Before being pg my periods were regular as clockwork (28 days cycle) and lasted 3-4 days with only one heavyish day. It's now almost 5 months since i m/c and my cycle has gone from 35 days to, 31 to 30! Seems to be levelling out now and although heavier than it used to be they are nowhere near as bad as the first one after m/c. Hang in there hon, i found the first period difficult emotionally as it reminded me of the m/c bleed. I think it's normal, remember everyone is different tho but you sound like you are going through a similar thing to me. Another thing i noticed was that before pg i always got sore bbs before af and didn't get this at all till last month where of course i convinced myself i was pg (i wasn't of course!)I think your hospital are right, just crazy hormones!

hi remember ur story,i had a natural m/c at 7 wks.ive had my first period since about 2 wks ago.like yours it started heavy and then easedof im glad really only i thought i would of been bleeding for longer 6 days i think it lasted ,never had no period pains or sore boobs which i usually get,but i never lost any clots either hun,if you keep loosing the clots and the pain is still bad id go n get checked out just to put your mind at ease if your worring.hope this helps
