Hi
Sorry for the unpleasantness Of title. I was taken into hospital 4 days ago after severe bleeding and clots and after scan the following day I was told I had miscarried and there were a few clots remaining. I was sent home without d and c and given a blood test next day to confirm my hormone level had dropped ( it was 90 yesterday). Hospital treatment has been a lot to be desired in many ways and I was concerned that I wasnt having a d and c as the doctors were conflicting and one had told me I would need one day before. I am bleeding with slight cramp and slight clots but have noticed it is smelling unpleasant. Is this normal? Should I contac someone about a D and C? I was told that I was going to be given anti-biotics when I left hospital for a urine infection but I was not given any. Not sure if I could have a problem or if I need to just wait and bleed for a few weeks as they told me. Please advise as Im a real worrier and dont think I can bear to go back to hospital but then dont want another trauma

really sorry to hear what you're going through. I went through something similar afte m/c last nov. I didn't have a d&c and they thought that the bits if tissue left over would be expelled on their own. After a week or so i noticed that my blood was smelly and almost black, i rang my gp and she gave me antibiotics and it cleared up. She said that i hadn't needed a d&c as the baby and sac etc had all gone.
You don't need to panic but I would def go and get some antibiotics as you may have a bit of an infection.

Sending you a hug cos i know what you're going through, feel free to pm anytime, Rach x x x

Thankyou for putting my mind at ease. As the miscarriage was quite a trauma with a lot of blood I ws kept in hospital on drips for 2 days and had a lot of pains. (althought the emotional is 1000 times worse). I was so worried that I could end up with a repeat of being rushed to hospital. Guess my hormones are controlling my mind aswell as my heart at the moment.

This site is helping me to learn so much.

Thanks for your kindness

Karen x
