"Miscarriage yesterday"

Hi,

I went for my 12 week scan yesterday, only to discover my baby had died at 9 weeks. I think this is a missed miscarriage - everything still in tact? I had no symptoms to suggest anything was wrong so am in complete shock.
Anyhow am back home waiting for the actual miscarriage to happen, I desperately want to avoid surgery or spending the day in hospital with pills and injections bleeding.
Just wondering if anyone else found out like this? If so did you wait to miscarry naturally? And how long did it take? I feel a bit twingy but no bleeding as of yet. I am torn between waiting it out and going back for pills to end it quicker.
Help!

First of all I'm so sorry to hear your sad news - it's not easy joining here but the support it can give is worth it.

I have also recently had a missed m/c, went like you for my scan (thought i was 13 wks) only to find that my lo had passed at 8+4. I was devasted.
I decided that as my body hadn't reacted to the m/c - I wasn't quite ready to let go and so went home to let nature decide. It only took 5 days before I m/c but it was very difficult. I had my OH for support and although the m/w said it would be no more than a sore period, i found it to be quite a bit worse than that and probably should have been in hospital.
Don't be worried about what you do, medical management or otherwise - it really is whatever you feel is right for you and there's noone else who can or has the right to decide that for you.
Take care love and pm me anytime if you need to chat.
x

hi, im so sorry for your loss. i too found out the same way as you only last wendesday at 12weeks. my baby had died about 10days before hand and i had no idea what had happenedd until i started having shows and went for my scan. it has to be the most devestating thing to ever of happened to me. ive got 2 girls and their pregs where fine so wasnt expecting it to happen! i decided to go in for a D&C because i didnt want to go through the pain of waiting for it to happen naturally because i was told it could take weeks. i dont regret having the procedure i had no pain with it and it was over within 15mins and your asleep dont get me wrong its horrible waking up knowing your baby is gone but for me it was the only way i could cope with it, but it has to be your decision and god knows its a very hard one to make.
my thoughts are with you and i hope you can make the decision which is right for you,
orla x
"Missed miscarriage recently too"
Posted by tillyd 22 July  at  13:42

Hi - I too had a missed miscarriage recently but I started bleeding so went for an early scan, it was then (11 weeks) that I found out there was no heartbeat and the baby had stopped at 8-9 weeks. I found it very distressing to know the baby had died inside me and I hadn't known. I went through a mixture of emotions of just wanting it taken away and then being really upset at the thought of feeling so empty. I started to have a lot of pain and once this happened I decided to go for the evacuation of retained product (ERPOC). It was a half day hospital stay, general anasthetic and it was fine. I haven't really suffered at all afterwards physically and I felt it was important for me to know everything was taken care of whilst I was asleep. I think it was good I had a few days in between knowing the pregnancy wasn't viable to having the operation as I think it's important to feel comfortable with your decision. Back at work now and struggling with the loss of my 'dream' but know that this is very common and have to look to the future. Let me know what you decide or if you want anymore info. All the best, tilly x
