Hey Everyone This is my first post on here!! So hi to all. I am a mother to 2 sons and I am so blessed! My first pregnancy was a m/c and my body dealt with itself,i was about 5 weeks. Although I was upset, I could understand why it happened. I fell pregnant straight away...as in the fist time I has sex. How lucky eh? Anyways went on to have my 2 boys. Found out I was pregnant on my 40th birthday in May just there, best birthday present ever. Two weeks ago,went for a 8 weeks scan. Pregnancy sac was there...no heartbeat. I was very upset, but my way of dealing with this,is to think of others. How so many women can never have children...and I have 2. After the scan, I was taken to a room to speak to the doctor. They wanted to know how I wanted to deal with the m/c as in the 3 options that you have. I decided on conservative management...as I said I had m/c before and my body dealt with it itself..so decided to do the same as I didn't want a d&c if I didn't need one. Anyways was sent home..and days after I started to bleed. Last Saturday the bleeding got VERY heavy, I bleed the whole day. I was ready to go to my bed, went to the toilet and took about 3 seizures in my bathroom. The next thing I knew I was in a ambulance been taking to the hospital...were I spent 5 days. I had lost too much blood..which was at dangerous levels. I ended up having a d&c. I am now home, with low blood pressure,low blood count,anemic and have a 6 week therapy course to take. Please don't think I am being a scaremonger here. I wanted you all to know what i went through, so you don't have to go through the same thing. If you decide to manage it yourself....be aware of how much blood you lose. My heading I'm angry......although I was treated very well at the hospital. I should have been briefed by the doctor on what to expect...when you go for conservative management. The amount of bleeding I had...I thought was normal. Which obviously wasn't. Please take care all.............x

Hi scottish mum, I'm quite new to this site too. I have a beautiful 5 yrd old boy. I've just been thru med management this week and I feel angry, isolated, sore, exhausted, tired, depressed. Ur not alone. I found that my local m/w was rubbish they didnt write a due date down for my notes so when this started I had to prove to E.P.U and a 2nd midwife that I was pregnant.The hosp wudnt take me 4 2 days. This was 3rd July and its only finally coming to an end now. The leaflets they give u just say strong period pains, I feel like I've had a 2nd labour, the pain was horrendous and the bleeding phenomenal. Yesterday I was climbing the ceiling today I feel like I'm in shock. Some of my family think I can move on now but I don't... just glad there are some really supportive people out there on sites like this Hel:{

Thanks for your comments! Yeah this site is great...isnt it? It feels good to get everything of your chest...I feel it helps a great deal. I must say I never experienced pain like you did.......only severe bleeding. Sorry to be very graphic...but I could have filled a carrier bag full on the Saturday I was taking into hospital. I thought this was normal...as the m/w didn't brief me on what to expect, that what gets me angry...grrrr I really hope things start to look up for you.xxxxxxx

Hello Scottishmum,
I m/c about 3 months ago at 13 wks (baby was 8+4 but my body missed m/c) and was also given the 3 options but went home to let my body decide when it was ready. My m/w who I rate highly and was fantastic when I had my 1st baby said it'd be no more than a bad period but just like you describe it was so much worse than that. Unfortunately I wouldn't let my OH call an ambulance but bled for hours in our shower passing major clots and being in more pain than my labour/birth was with my 1st. My levels all dropped too and m/w confirmed if we'd gone to hospital I'd have been admitted. I described what happened to her and the EPU so that maybe they'd warn people of the best/worst case scenarios that can happen when you chose that method and also that maybe having some bed liners/mat pads would be useful as I went into it totally blind which I feel now was unnecessary - quite frankly it's hard enough. I'm so sorry the same sort of thing happened to you and I hope you're doing ok now you're back home. If you need to chat the girls on here are great or pm me anytime. x

Hi girls Thanks so much for your above comments...much appreciated. Theses forums are great. I have my OH to talk to, buts its nice to share with women who have actually been through it eh? While I'm here, I have a wee question you might be able to answer. When you do eventually get your periods back after a m/c...Do they come back into the same cycle as before you were pregnant? Thanks in advance

my first period came 6 weeks after i started to bleed with m/c some peolpe can take alot longer i think if no sign by 8 weeks see a doc.as i said before tho my dates were well out as i fell pregnant after first period so beware if ttc... i think they can take a while to settle down think thats why they reccommend waiting 3 months before ttc but hey what are dating scans for!! hope this helps!!

Hey Clairebear80........your info was helful. When I had my first m/s I didn't wait for 3 months...I ttc straight away....and it worked first time. This time I am a bit anxious and scared in case it happens all again, but on the other hand as I said I'm 40...don't want to leave it too long. What women have to go through eh?
