hi, after having a missed m/c in nov at 12 wks, i finally got pregnant again this month (now 6 wks). yesterday i started having the same brown discharge i had at the start of my m/c. got a scan on wed. i'm pretty sure i've m/c, but there's still that tiny bit of hope. i hate not knowing. has anyone had a vaginal scan? i'm worried it's gonna hurt. do you know if it can definitely see the baby as early as 6 wks?

thanks.

Hiya
I had an internal scan today - it does not hurt at all, so you have nothing to worry about. It is the most accurate way of finding baby's heartbeat. They should be able to detect this at 6 weeks.

Also don't worry about the brown discharge - that can be perfectly normal. I went on to have twins following a similar experience. Good luck

I also had a miscarriage last Nov at 11 wks, I also started off with sml amounts of brownish discharge, so the Dr sent me for a scan, the sonographer scanned my tummy, then she asked if I minded having a vaginal scan, which I did have, it was not uncomfortable and it showed more as it gets closer to the sac. Unfortunatly I had miscarried and went on to have a D&C.
This time you are experiencing this discharge earlier into your pregnancy, if this is the time your period would have been then it may well be the egg implanting itself, which some women get light spotting due to this.
I'm not sure if the vaginal scan can see as early as 6 wks, I have read you can see from as early as 8 wks, but that may be by using the tummy scan.
Anyway I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for tomorrow.
Just a little hope for you, I got pregnant after 2 periods following my miscarriage and I am now 19wks+3days. So you can achieve it.
And you will tend to worry more on this pregnancy because of what happened last time, I still worry now.
Please let me know how you get on. Cath x

thanks, for replying. well the scan didn't hurt but they couldn't see much, put me back a week(?), so still not sure what happening. my hcg levels are 4000, and two days later 6710, so again, although they went up, they didn't double and i have to go back for another scan on thurs. you are lucky being 20 wks, that is the best time!! i loved the middle months with my other two kids ( had none of this pregnancy's problems though!!). good luck to you! sarah.
