Hi there,
I have never posted on one of these before but your story stood out to me. I have had three late miscarriages and each has been different. The first was at 16 weeks when my waters broke, my cervix was closed and they could not find any reason, the second was also at 16 weeks when my waters broke and they put it down to Incompetant Cervix. On my third I had a stitch put in at 14 weeks as a precaution which got me to 18 weeks where my cervix opened. They tried to push membranes back up and put another stitch in but they could not and I lost another little baby. I have searched high and low to try and find someone that had had experience similar to mine but could not. The reason I think it is similar is that there was an infection found in my second and they also found an infection in the third but they do not think that would have caused anything. I seem to be a bit of a medical mystery and am unsure where to go and who to ask. My consultant is thinking about putting a stitch higher up on my womb for the next one as he still thinks it is incompetant Cervix but he wanted a second opinion first so referred me to Prof Regan at St Mary's where I have just found out there is a 7 month wait just to see her....
I am the same as you and really do not want to go through this again.
Could you please let me know more about the autoimmunity.
Thanks

Hi girls,
I'm wonder in any of you had such a bad experience as me.
I had my first miscarriage last May 06 in 22+6 week of pregnancy. Officially was said and written that it was caused by infection. Till the day I was going through a very nice and happy with no problems at all. Even my discharge changed after first trimester I didnt have any other symptoms of having an infection so my doctor thought isnt ok. One morning I had really bad pain in stomach and my doctor advised me to take magnesium and wait. The pain was on and off and I was waiting...Unfortunately I was out of town and couldn't go to hospital when it starts being really bad. We reached hospital in the evening, but I had contractions every 3-5 min. Baby was still alive. I was on infusion till morning, but it didn't help and I lost my baby girl. Doctor said my water was already infected so it was only question of time...Nobody searched why I had this infection and we assigned to bad luck.
I got pregnant again after 6 months and was very careful on anything I was doing. Even I'm very sporty I gave up everything including swimming and having sex as I was afraid of catching an infection!
My pregnancy went all right, I was going through amniocentesis and it was fine till 20 week. My doctor noticed with the vaginal ultrasound that I'm starting opening from inside. In that time it wasn't so bad as lot's of pregnant woman are open through whole pregnancy and are fine. The thing was that I had vaginal infection again!! and was treated only with vaginal antibiotics for 4 days.
But in case we stared preparation for cerclage and planed the next visit a week later. Unfortunately, the next visit showed that I was opened on 1.5cm and it was nearly to late. They took me to hospital and next day morning was cerclage done at the last minute!
There was no reason for doctor to give me antibiotics after!! Again unfortunately I found out after 4 days that my infection went worse. I started have a pain and the rest was nearly the same as in first case, the end was losing my baby girl in April 07 in 22+3 week.
Since then I'm searching everywhere for similar cases and visiting doctors, but most of them can't promise me anything for the future. I found one immunology doctor and he thinks it's a problem of autoimmunity.
I'm wonder if any of you went through a problem like this or just heard about it.
It will help me a lot to think positive again and if there is anybody who can help me what to do....I really can't go through the same again!!
Many thanks and sorry for my English

hi there, I'm so sorry to hear whats happened, I lost my first baby girl last year in May on Mother's day (terrible experience)and this year on 3 April. Since then I'm reading a lots of articles, books and stories and trying to find what wrong with me, as doctors has different opinion and I don't want to rely only on one. It could be only bad luck, but I would advise you to do all tests possible, so you don't have to go through it again. I made a mistake when after first time I only believed what my doctor say. I change my doctor after my first m/c and now again (I know is not a solution sometimes, but I want my doctor to do everything for me, not only monthly check up, if my urine and blood pressure is ok!). Now I have all my tests done (except one)and I started to have a treatment for slightly reduced immunity and autoimmunity developed during some hidden infection in past. Your case is probably different as your baby stopped developing. Did they find out why?? I'm just said for myself as I'm nearly 33 and this treatment can take as least another 6 months and it's going to only more difficult to have a healthy baby Its not a lot of cases like our, so I'm glad we are sharing some experience which can help to all of us.

hi - i am not sure if anyone still visits this post as its been a lon time since -but my story is almost similar...

i mc at 14+ weeks due to my waters breaking...baby was fine but they told me they had to abort it cuz it would not develop due to no fluid arnd it.
worst day of my life -they induced a mc and i lost the baby.
i did have some bleeding at 7 weeks but they couldn't point out the cause of the waters breaking. could b an infection but all my tests cam bac normal.

its been 2 months now and i want to TTC next month but am very scared. i just wished i knew the reason for this happening -would know wht to expect next time. thy dont do more tests if its ur 1st mc as they say it happens quite often so i guess i will just have to pray the next one goes ok.
