I tried replying to you earlier and thought i had posted the reply but i guess i didn't!
My situation was a little bit different because i didn't have the opportunity to wonder whether i was having a miscarriage or not, mainly because i didn't know I was pregnant. However, what I can tell you is that i passed big fat clots and that not only did I have heavy bleeding (used one super tampon every hour), but I also struggled to go to the toilet (sign that your body is trying to retain as much liquid as possible due to blood loss) and I had really bad lower backache. I would eally try not to worry too much if you don't have either of these symptoms. I realise it's easier said than done and i know you're probably going out of your mind with worry right now but just try to stay positive!
It is perfectly normal to bleed in early pregnancy and to have cramps - you're growing a baby so your body is bound to creek a bit in the process!
Unfortunately, if you are having a miscarriage, there's little a doctor can do, since it's your body's way of telling you there's something fatally wrong with the baby.
Either way, I hope everything goes ok. If you're really worried and if i was you, I would either go to A&E or go to the doctors or family planning clinic and request a pregnancy test - they will prob be more accurate than a home testing kit.
I'm here for you if you need to chat xxx A million hugs and kisses

Whole thread for the following message:
| Thread started by: | "Am i having a miscarrage?" Posted by joanna08 13 July at 22:13
Hi,
a few days ago i had some light spotting and some brownish coloured discharge, I went to see my doctor yesterday who said its best for me to have an early pregnancy scan to be sure that everything is ok.
I went for my early scan this morning and it turns out that I am not 6 weeks as we all thought but in fact only 5+3 or thereabouts.
The lady who did the external and internal scan & smear said its far to early to see anything however she said that it was not an ectopic pregnancy & for the stage im at everything looks perfectly normal, she did however say that i have a little "internal" bleeding!
she said that where the egg from the ovary should latch on the side & then release itself & after that it should shrivals & die (still atached to the side) the lady said to me that my egg broke away & ripped a little of my linning but it was nothing to worry about.
Later that day around 5pm ish I got home from work & went to the toilet to find my knickers smeared with dark brown & bright red blood! no clots as such but large areas of blood in the crouch. I also have a little pain/cramps over my right overy. Ive called my doctor who said the was nothing that can be done! it will eaither pass & be a healthy pregnancy or it could be the biggining of a misscarage.
Has anyone else had this???

hi Jo,
Yes, and only yesterday I went to the early pregnancy department with bleeding it was bright red and period like. I just presumed that I had lost the baby I knew I was pregnant approx 8 wks. I have felt uncomfortable throughout this pregnancy period like cramps and dull back ache now the bleeding seems to have stopped but there is brown blood type stuff which seems like old blood. I am now in limbo and dont really know what is happening just hope that everything stays ok and that the baby is healthy.
Please let me know how you get on.
Jackie

I only found out a few days ago I was pregnant after having bleeds 11 and 15 days after what I thought to be my last period. The doctor asked me whether I' had considered taking a pregnancy test, which didn't pass my mind when I found out I have PCOS earlier this year.
What worried me the most was when I was taken to A&E 3 days after with severe pains over my right overy (which has the cyst). The pain subsided after about 1hr30min. I'm hoping to get some answers from the bloods they took that night.
Since that night I've been losing blood each time I go to the toilet. I'm trying not to get too worried, as its still early days yet.

Hey
I truly hope that all is well with you.
So many people have trouble and have a good pregnancy after.
these forums are gteat but alos its good to listen to yourself.
when i started bleeding I knew it wasnt good, and was annoyed at all the 'be positive'
I just couldnt, and 2 weeks after a miscarriage i feel better and i know now that it must have been ill baby as i was very ill with it myself.
so really, the question is, how do you feel? is it all okay by you?
good luck
rachel

Hi Joanna,
I am about 4 weeks pregnant as far as i can tell and on Friday I began bleeding moderately. I rang my doctor and he advised me to speak to the maternity unit at my local hospital. I was advised to go to the unit on Monday to have an internal scan (presumably the same as you have)
This is my second pregnancy and I had no such problems when I was having my son.
The doctor did however tell me this may be perfectly normal and nothing to worry about but I do have the same concerns as you.
I have also been in some pain, like a period pain which increased my concern that the pregnancy had miscarried. I think it is a bit of a waiting game at this early stage.
