"Heya hun" Posted by beckyboo123 11 January at 17:44
I know you've had plenty of replies but I just though I'd post about my experience too. I went to my local GP and advised him that I had done two pregnancy test and both were positive and that I did not want to continue with the pregnancy. He then advised me that I would be contacted by the hospital directly, that they would send me a letter advising me of my scheduled appointment. I was worried of how long this would take,as my doctor was not very supportive of my decision, but luckily I managed to recieve my letter within a few days and ended up having my appointment about a week and a half after my visit to the GP's. Then my final visit to the hospital was just two days after my first appointment. Is there an option to specify which hospital you visit,as I was just thinking whether the 18 day wait is just for one hospital,if so maybe you could travel a little further to get a quicker date?

I found out I was pregnant New years eve, phoned BPAS on Wednesday to discuss an abortion and I have an appointment to talk to them on Monday. I don't yet know how long I will have to wait to have it done, but I know I have to travel about 45 miles to the clinic, how I am going do that I don't know yet.

Thank you, that's very kind. I may look in to going private as not sure I can cope with waiting so long - and the consequences that I may face.
I don't really want to go through with the procededure but I am in a very awkward position and feel that this is the 'best' option given my situation. It would makes things so much easier the earlier I could have the termination, particularly for my own mental state. Thanks xxx

Hi,
I'm in the same position as you, found out i was pregnant on Weds, and went to see my doctor today. I was told i will receive a letter sometime next week with an appointment date. I'm also worried that it will be some time before i can have a termination. I'm also worried about having to take time off work and what to tell my boss without them knowing the real reason.

you can tell your boss your having a d & c (a scrape) due to lady trouble, I told my boss this when I had a termination 8 years ago and the hospital will be happy to right that on your sick note if you need one. Having said that I was only off work for 3 days after the proceedure.

Thanks for replying. I regret to say that I've been through this once before many years ago but was in a different region so the healthboard responded differently (much quicker). I told my immediate boss the truth as I got on very well with her, she didn't tell anyone else other than to say that I had a minor medical procedure that would require a week off work.
Working for a new company now, only been there 5 weeks and won't be telling them the reason for taking time off. I think you can get a drs note that doesn't specify the reason for why you need to take time off but not 100% sure.
Good luck x

First of all i want to say thankyou to a nice person who left me a horrible message by PM!!! all i was saying is if your circumstances are right and you cant afford the money to pay for an abortion then why shouldnt you have one on the NHS.... if the facillitys are there why... if this person had one she would realise how hard it is for someone to make a desicion like this!!! i didnt do it on purpose i was using contraception!! x
