in regards to my earlier question Hey Guys sorry not been on for a while i need some advice.... i been bleeding loads recently, but when i had an abortion i bleed for 6 months after, and its starting to make me very ill... i dont have periods as im on the implant.. i phoned up my doctor and she sed to do a pregnancy test and if its positive phone up the A&E i just cant face doing one.... i got doctors moro, they also sed i cld just have a very bad infection... can some one help asap?? i really dont know what to think!!! i feel so bad.... xxxxxxxxx well i dont 2 tests one said positve and one said negative wht do i do?? xxxxx

The implants do not always prevent ovulation and conception, ie the sperm fertilizing the egg, but rather prevent a pregnancy from taking hold in the uterus. What may have happened is that you conceived and the fertilized egg tried to implant in the uterus, but after a few days failed, and now you are having a very very early miscarriage. This would explain the presence of pregnancy hormones in your urine and also a very lumpy heavy bleed.

Obviously you need to speak to a Doc to get a proper medical opinion. Higher dose combined pills normally prevent ovulation, but they have to contain progesterone and oestrogen. The implants as far as I know only have the oestrogen. The problem with the combined pill is that women often feel lousy on it. Another alternative is to research NFP (Natural Family Planning). This way you would at least get to know your own body and your cycles and be able to identify your fertile and infertile times. This is best done in a stable relationship (marriage) as it requires your partners cooperation aswell, and offers no protection against STDs.

Talk to a Doc anyway.
