I had the surgical one, but i thought you could only have the surgical one if you were past 7 weeks as they might not clear everything or be able to spot it, maybe you are a little further gone?
i have put a thread on here about my experience and it was a positive one, the staff at colchester general were very reassuring and cooperative with me, but again that depends where you have the abortion, as you are going to Marie Stopes i think they will be superb as they are just abortion places aren't they?
As for work, i was back at work the next day, they said not too drive for 48 hours because of the anesthetic, but i honestly felt fine. I think it depends on each person though.
Yes it is very normal for hormones to be everywhere because your body will be adjusting and prepaing a 'home' in your womb.
Honestly take it from a total wimp who had to have 2 attempts at a blood test, i was that scared but the anesthetic was a little less painfull ... its really not that bad at all.
I hope it goes ok x

Whole thread for the following message:

Hey,
I am a 21 year student, and i got a positive test on monday. I told my mum immediately, and went to the doctors on the tuesday. She referred me to Marie Stopes. I have been booked in for a surgical termination next tuesday. I have asked for a general anaesthetic, although I am in the early stages (4 1/2 weeks). The thing is, I am sooo nervous. What do I expect? Will the staff be supportive? Will I be able to go back to work the next day? My decision is 100%, and I know the biggest thing I wil feel is relief. My boyfriend is unaware of what is going on, cos I don't want him to feel guilty. Also, is it normal to be up and down emotionally prior to this procedure? I feel very comfortable in my decision, as I have so much planned in my life, and it wouldnt be fair on the baby or me if I bought it into the world. I am just looking for a little peace of mind about the procedure itself. Thank you very much x x

Well I started a thread called "my experience" which goes through how mine went, it wasn't at Marie Stopes though so may be a little different. Its how you feel whether you go back to work the next day but I had mine on a wednesday and moved house on the friday and was fine.
Yes the staff are sooo nice. I was crying so hard when it was about to happen but I had the nicest nurse holding my hand and just talking to me, it really helped. No-one there is judgemental or rude.
You will be bound to be very emotional, part of it hormones. I was constantly crying but as soon as i woke up I felt fine, normal, the next few days were emotional but thats expected I think.
Good Luck! x

just read your message and wanted to say that i'm due to have the medical one next tuesday and i'm terrified too. If you read some of the other threads - they are quite helpful and say that the staff are extremely friendly etc.
hope it goes well xx
