Gastric band /aftercare package

Hello

I am due to have a gastric band fitted at Easter.

Having read comment on a different forum debating whether the aftercare package is not all its made out to be. If anyone can share there experience or offer any advise I would love to hear from you.

Good luck

I admire you for doing it. I hope it gets fantastic results for you.

I don't know a great deal about it. As i have only looked into gastric balloon which is good for people with bmi of 30 or above.

Really not sure about it though. because the balloon only stays in for 6 months. I worry that when it was taken out i would stuff myself silly. My weight problem is totally pshychological. I liken it to like being an alcoholic. Im either on a diet and restricting myself or im totally out of control and eating badly. I can never find the happy medium. The one thing that has helped in the past is Hypnotism. But it takes no end of sessions and you have to go every week at £60 a session. Weight problems are usually very deep routed in your subconcious.

Gastric band aftercare

Hi

I am a Bariatric Nurse Specialist and as such know full well the importance of ensuring that a aftercare package is in place BEFORE your operation. Obviously the aftercare can vary greatly between companies and in some instances it is not included in the price. On your part that could well be a false economy and I would strongly advise that you know exactly what your package is before proceeding - are blood tests included, band fills, x-ray assessment, dietetic follow up and general support and advice. These are essential for you to have the best outcome - we see patients that have spent thousands of pounds getting the op and then finding that because of a poor aftercare package they don't get the results that they had hoped for and the weight starts to pile on again
If you would like to have a chat, even though you have booked with someone else give me a shout and I will be happy to help.
