I found a few pages on ultrashape but the one below was the only one with before and after pictures. Does anyone have any experience with this treatment?

At Laser Rejuvenation Clinics and Spa in Calgary Alberta, Canada I had Ultrashape performed. A series of 3 treatments on my thighs, buttocks and abdomen. I only lost 1 cm per treatment which was quite perplexing for me as, other than these stubborn spots, I am quite fit. I am 5"7 and 140 lbs. I exercise avidly, weight training 2 days per week, elliptical trainer 3 times a week for an hour, and run 10 kms. twice a week. Everywhere but my trouble spots I am cut. After much research into Ultrashape I discerned that I am the perfect candidate so I forked over almost $10,000 to the Laser Rejuvenation Clinic which lauded the same results put forth in clinical trials by Ultrashape. The problem is that they don't observe the working protocol in order to achieve the results. Most pointedly as contained in an abstract from a clinical trial: Thirty six patients between 21 and 60 years old, 33 females and 3 males with diagnosis of lipodismorphism, were treated for localized adiposities in several parts of the body: abdomen, flanks or/and tights in three sequenced sessions of approximately 1000 ultrasonic pulses each one, made one month apart. I received half that number of pulses in each treatment, hence my below average results. So I went looking for more information and discovered this: The patients position affects fat thickness and texture. Position 3 causes more thickness and the fat is softer. It can be improved with the help of elastic banding and specially designed cushions. Utilisation of elastic banding and cushions: Cushions are used to position the area to be treated as parallel as possible to the surface of the treatment table and to improve patient comfort and stability. Banding is used to approximate the end of the ellipse in order to reduce tension and to increase fat thickness in the area to be treated with the Ultrashape. The technicians who worked on me basically laid the tape on me , barely applying any pressure to the fat which did not isolate it for the machine to be able to pick up the number of pulses it would have required to give me the full treatment I had paid for!! Nor did they use any cushions to position me even though the special Ultrashape positioning pillows and cubes were on another table in the room. When I asked one of the technicians what they were for she was at least honest and told me they were for positioning patients but that I didn't need them! I just laid out flat on the table with a tiny little pillow under my head. I fully believe that they are aware of the proper working protocol because the last technician I had was a really kind woman and took pity on me because I'd just had my measurement a month after the second treatment and still only a centimeter of loss in all 3 areas. She did my last treatment and she cinched me up tight with the tape for the first time!! It's 8 days later and I've lost 4 cm already around my butt!! So it does work but you have to make sure the place you have it done is ethical and not trying to prey on people like me who just desperately want what they pay for to work. Thank god I had that one last treatment because I had actually started to buy in to the nasty consultant feeding me that there are some people it doesn't work for. They did allow as how they'd be so kind as to let me pay for as many more treatments as I need at the rate of $800 apiece. At the rate they do treatments that would have only cost me about another 10 grand or so. The transducer, which is the handheld piece of the Ultrashape machine, has to be replaced after so many pulses and it's expensive so between doling out the absolute minimum pulses they can in order to produce just the most minimal results and preying on the fact that they know even the littlest improvement could cause people to continue to throw good money after bad they have got quite a con job going on here. I tried every day this week to get the consultant on the phone and left message after message. She knows I've figured out their scam and thinks that ignoring me will make me go away. She does not know me very well. I am meeting with a class action lawyer on Monday and am hoping that others who have had similar experiences will want to join me. There are so many people on the web who have not had good results that I have to believe that there are other places out there conning people too. In summation I am writing this blog as the start of my internet campaign to enlighten people like me as I wish someone had done for me before this company ripped me off... One of the technicians who performed one of my procedures did tell me that Dr. Tom Woo had recently decided he couldnt do liposuction anymore and I know that is much more expensive so I theorize that hes looking to replace that revenue by reducing the efficacy of Ultrashape in order to prey on people who hope and pray that Ultrashape will work and suck them dry of all the money he can.

Hi there,
My name is Jennifer. I know the clinic you are referring to since I just went for a free consultation. I'm so sorry to hear about your not so good experience. Rather than spend $10,000 (which is what I'd need too) I am considering purchasing a machine to use for myself and friends. What do you think about that?
Feel free to call me at 663-9360 if you'd like to discuss further.
Sincerely, Jennifer
| "Ultrashape at laser rejuvenation clinic in calgary" Posted by tsmith227 10 May at 16:21
The Laser Rejuvenation Clinic told me, (not that ANYTHING else they told me was truthful), that the machine costs $250,000. I don't have that kind of money. I'm still smarting financially from losing $10,000 for only one proper treatment...but please let me know if this is something you decide to pursue. I am booked in June to go to Toronto and get one more proper treatment done on my abdomen. Another thing I discovered is that the clinic I went to should not be forcing people to pay for 3 treatments( to the tune of $3495 even if they only they need only one treatment) but I guess that's just another facet of their endeavor to hose people...and since they do such a poor job I suppose even someone with a tiny amount would have to go back a minimum of 3 times!!
| "Ultrashape pricing at the laser rejuvenation clinics and spa in calgary" Posted by tsmith227 19 May at 16:39
It has been brought to my attention by someone who read my posts about Ultrashape at The Laser Rejuvenation Clinics and Spa and my experience, and has recently gone for a consultation there, that they have changed their pricing in an attempt to discredit what I have been posting. Be very cautious if you go there for this procedure. The clinical studies that they tout regarding the efficacy of Ultrashape clearly state that the controlled variable of at least 1000 pulses MUST be performed for it to give you the average 2.5cm result. That number is clearly available on the bottom of the screen (I had the presence of mind to look at that and record it every time) before they start the procedure and throughout as the other number counts down next to the number of pulses. The second variable of taping your fat up to bring it all within the area should achieve the 1000 pulses unless your are a toothpick. You should be wrapped all the way around your body above and below the area to be treated and it should be hard to move. The tape should be stretchy like the Tensoplast adhesive bandage you can find in any drug store. If I had to do it over again I'd bring my own!! Also you should pay around $1 per pulse, which, if they had been ethical about it they should have given me, because I paid that and then some!! And they should NOT be making people pay for 3 treatments UP FRONT, regardless of whether or not a person will need them...
| "Ultrashape pricing per pulse" Posted by tsmith227 19 May at 18:22
And the $1 per pulse is TOP dollar! From what pricing I've been able to gather where it's available around the world the average is about 80 cents USD per pulse.
| "Ultrashape does work but...more of what you need to know" Posted by tsmith227 20 April at 17:19
To tell how many pulses you are getting, the number appears at the bottom of the monitor right after they position the markers on you. There will be the number of pulses on one side at the bottom of the screen and another number next to it which reflects the pulses counting down as they've been administered. There's no reason that you shouldn't see that number and if you've been taped properly and aren't too skinny for the procedure it should be in the range of 1000 or more pulses per treatment area which is 36 cm x 36cm, the size of area used in the clinical studies for Ultrashape. The clinic I went to said it was the size of 2 of my hands, which incidentally are 18 cm long but only 13 cm wide. Another way of reducing the efficacy of the treatment... I have corresponded with several people who have had good results with their treatments and they all said that they were taped up so tight they could not move in order to isolate the areas treated. The tape should be a Tensoplast type stretch adhesive bandage, not the stuff they basically just laid on me to no effect on me which was akin to packing tape and took 4 days of labor intensive scrubbing to get the adhesive off. All these factors designed to make what I paid for work as minimally as possible... If I learned just one thing from this experience it's pay attention and don't take anyone's word for anything!!

Hi,
unfortunatley Ultra Shape has only just arrived in germany and no one really knows if it works. It seems like there are good results with the abdomen and waist -but has anyone had any results on the inner thighs? and if yes, after how many treatments? Ive only had one treatment so far and I know that the first results are barely seen after one, but I don`t wnat to spend not money in vain either.
Please tell me your results! Thank you!
| "Some feedback on ultrashape consultation" Posted by bebedamour64 1 May at 23:37
I booked a consultation with a clinic here in Vancouver for $150.00 which can be applied to your procedure if you decide to go ahead. My impression was that it is a somewhat effective pocedure but the doctor and his assistants were not willing to really commit to "guaranteed" results saying it depends on many factors and individuals. Which I totally understand, but what bugged me was they spouted a lot of scientific jargon all the while, however they didn't really ask me about my lifestyle, eating habits, etc. just took my word that I had stubborn spots that don't respond to diet and exercise. They asked where my areas of concern were, which typically, for most women, are abdomen, love handles and thighs. They then looked at these areas on me with templates that help them establish a quote for the cost of all these areas. I am 5' 4" approx. 125lbs fit, active, eat well, 43, two children so I thought I would be a good candidate, with minimum amount to target. The quote came out to over $8000.00 CAD, which I found to be extremely pricey, considering that traditional liposuction would cost approximately the same. I just couldn't get past a feeling that they weren't being truly ethical and getting down to the important questions, instead focusing on how each pulse costs money, the room is booked for several hours, etc. in an effort to justify this exorbitant quote I suppose. Yes, I know, non-invasive, no down time etc. but still! At least with lipo, you have removed fat, guaranteed, so needless to say, I won't be going ahead with this procedure. That $150.00 was well spent in my opinion, since it has made me rethink my priorities although for such a superficial consultation, I felt a bit scammed. A psychological therapy session would probably have cost the same and done more good! Comes back to the old "no magic bullet" One must really commit to eating unprocessed, whole foods, minimum alcohol. Regular exercise, including building muscle, especially after 40, since we lose muscle mass as we age and understand that more calories expended verses calories consumed means weight loss and increasing metabolism through muscle mass is the only way to burn fat that is hanging around. Every fitness guru worth their salt will tell you that this is the only way to get the body and the health benefits that go along with this commitment. Last but not least, let's try to embrace our individual flaws and qualities and love ourselves. Peace.

First of all : Thank you so much for all your input guys I really appreciate all of your thoughts and experiences and that you took the time out to share them (I know its for all of us and not really just for me, but it feels a bit like it is)
I still havent had the treatment not for any reason besides time and life getting in the way. I was reminded of the treatment when I saw it advertised in the newspaper this week and thought Id see if there was any more information about the treatment. I did a google search and found that my little question had climbed almost to the top of the list )
Anyway, I also went to the website where I first discovered the treatment there are some more before and after pictures there. Question for all of you who have had the treatment: Do your results look like this?

| "I'm considering ultrashape contour i treatment" Posted by aturner 19 August at 19:17
I am 48 years old and weight 195 lbs. This sounds high, but I don't really look too overweight as I'm 5-7" and have a large frame. My problem area is my tummy - two good handfuls that I cannot get rid off through exercise. A clinic in Toronto, Ontario, Canada has the license since May. I've gone for a consultation and it appears promising. I have two questions; is there a better chance for a person of my size to see results and whether there is any risk I should be aware of, ecept a shock type pain if a bone is touched.
Alice
| "No pain" Posted by bverotti 24 August at 14:15
You will likely need multiple sessions, at least 3. Dont expect to see a visual change until some time after the second treatment. Dont worry, there are no side effects. Treatment on the tummy will not give you any shock pain due to touching the bones. Bones are to be avoided during the treatment since it is extremely painfull (yours truly had it done intentionally on the ribs and it is only then that you understand the power of ultrashape).
| "Did 2 ultrashape treatments so far, and it worked" Posted by lovethebeach 4 June at 05:28
I got 2 ultrashape treatments in Mexico.
my first treatment I lost 2.5 inches. Ana the nurse put me on a diet, so little carbs, little fat. No fun but it worked.
my second treatment I have lost over 1 inch so far, but I have 1 more week to wait for the final results.
it is cool that I can now wear some dresses that I have not worn in over a year. and now I have a waist again so Id reccommend it. It is better than lipodisolve, or lipozap in my opionion. before the treatments i wore a 12 pants and now im a 10 again.

| "Ultrashape negative publication at dallas congress in us - body contouring with very little effect" Posted by annadavid1 22 May at 11:32
Dear Femala Friend, I am a Belgium doctor and I have assisted to the conference in US where the ULTRASHAPE method has been put in balance by several doctors who have more than a year experience.... and made serious studies Doctor H.CHAN and some doctors from JAPAN. These doctors all said they have very little effect, less than 30% which cannot be relevant.... Actually they explained that every single female has a variation of 2 to 4 cm in circumferences during the same months....and this is not due to the ULTRASHAPE treatment at all...but only to their body metabolism. Just try to measure yourself during one month before you do a treatment....you see by yourself that you change sizes....without any specific treatment.... Doctor W A DAVID Beligum
| "Seeing is believing" Posted by bverotti 8 July at 21:17
Dear, I wonder why we have not been invited to the conference. After all our institute. is one of the worlds mosts experienced Ultrashape centers since we started offering it to the public back in 2005. We have a database of about 1500 cases now. Are most people satisfied ? The answer is yes if they meet the correct profile AND perform MULTIPLE sessions. I am sick of seeing ULtrashape being advertised as a one pass solution, it is not. In Holland some doc has almost destroyed the good name of Ultrashape by offering the treatment as a weight loss methode, unbelievable ! Ultrashape will NOT make anyone loose significant weight, in fact fat is very light. Ultrashape works, period. I was convinced by their own research, and now we have a collection of records that shows a reduction in cm with no weight loss which can only be explained by the fact that fat cells are gone. Yes, there is a circumference change in almost every woman during the same month. This change however is noted in the abdom area. So how to explain cm loss at the thighs ? How come woman are telling us they are fitting in pants that they could not fit into for years despite the fact that they have not lost weight? Are they hallucinating ? No, facts are facts. On the other hand I have never ever seen so many clinical studies by any treatment. Why would a company go to such great lenghts as to proof their method? Because they know that the machine they invented is NOT going to be very welcomed by the medical community ! Would you like to have a machine replacing your liposuction practice ? No because it would mean loss of income, period.
Let those who do not believe not stand in the way of those making progress.
| "A recent customers honest opinion on this procedure......." Posted by usultrashapecustomer 31 May at 13:45
I live in the United States and had this procedure performed twice recently in Mexico and in my opinion this Belgium doctor is correct. There is no significant change. I am very thin to begin with and just have a small belly "pooch" that I am trying to decrease. I followed all the eating practices required after each treatment and am a tiny bit smaller in circumference. I believe that has to do with the change in my eating habits and my metabolism throughout the month. There is no weight loss associated with the procedure. I was 118 prior to the procedure and 116 after two, but again, that is due to eating a much healthier diet. I am a size 2 so maybe this is better for much larger women, but I was told it works best on someone with just a small amount of fat to be reduced. I was told I would need 3 more treatments at 900.00 each to get a flat stomach. I do not believe this will happen based on 2 treatments and plan to look into laser lipo. I did not want any recovery time or have to wear a garment after laser lipo, which is why I tried ultrashape. I wish I had not wasted 2000.00 and put it towards a better alternatitive. If you do try this treatment, there is no pain associated with it and no down time whatsoever.

Hello. I am interested in Ultrashape like many others. I was wondering if you know where I could get information on the conference you attended regarding the negatives of Ultrashape. Could you post some of the attending doctors that we could contact regarding this? It does seem to good to be true..and is very expensive and before I save and spend for this I want to know if I am being foolish in my choice. Thank you for all your help in this regard. It is so easy to be taken in by everything that we see..it is nice if we can help each other with information at times. Thanks.
