Fake tan disasters

I am getting really annoyed with trying to get a lovely, NATURAL LOOKING fak tan. I have used various products recently which start off ok and then after several applications it is as though my skin becomes resistant in places and it goes all patchy and horrible.
So far I have used:

L'oreal tanning moisturiser (sunshimmer or something)
yes after a couple of days a light natural tan, and then patchy horrible orangyness. And the last time I used it the hot weather made me a little sweaty at the back of the knees area and I now have big white patches where the tan literally melted off. not a good look.

Sublime bronze (again L'oreal i think) - first couple of times no problem and then again patchy and horrible.

Spray on tan - don't know which brand. stays wet for ages and goes dark in some places and hardly colours others.

I always exfoliate before applying tan and apply carefully and evenly - but it seems no matter how careful I am I still end up with bad results after a few applications. I would like a year round tan and not one that only lasts for a week or so.

Any help from other 'fakers' would be very welcome. I think I must have strange skin!

Fake bake

I think its okay but it doesnt last long at all and it gets suck in your pores. Its make me look like a have loads of blackheads on my chest.

I keep hearding about Xen-Tan so im going to try that next.

Mary kay

Has anyone tried the Subtle Tanning lotion by Mary Kay? I'm a consultant and I dont have customers who needs tanning but the up side is if you dont like it you can always get your money back or try another product.

Try something new..

You should try the spritzer from Caribbean Tan! You can choose the tone that suits your skin colour and you get a free mit to spread the tan evenly. It also smell great!! You can buy on their website www.caribbeantan.co.uk

Dont worrie

dont worrie i had the same problem!
i have fair skin so alot of fake tan have either turned me orange or not took affect atall.
ive finally found a tan which turns me olive brown and the other good point about it is it dosnt smell and doesnt stain bed sheets!
Xen-Tan!

you should give it a try and see how it goes!!

hope this helps!!

p.s. on the website i signed up for the newletter an you get entered into a draw each month to win £50 of xen-tan, worth a try!!

Dont give up

Im going to be a profy-faker as you soon, cos I've tried a plenty products, but finally ended up with Delph lotions. The best thing about them that I dont have orange hands and awfull streaky lines.

You don't have strange skin!

Hi

You're not alone, I have had the same problem. I have had far more success with the milks. The gels & definitely the sprays are a no no - they tend to dry your skin. I'm sure you do, but I invest in a tan preserving moistutiser & am religious about applying it. Bit of a pain, but I wasn't blessed with olive skin so needs must!

Lol

do it like Paris Hilton go for the orange, other wise just go to the beach, have you used the garnier tan thats good

Fake tan disasters

The problem with the home products is that when used too often you will get the problems described. You end up with a build up that eventually will make you orange and/or will cause uneven fading and blotchiness. As far as spray tanning is concerned, the UK is way behind Australia and the USA. Everyone has heard of Fake Bake or St. Tropez neither of which I rate but there is a product called Liquid Sun from Vani-T which is fab. Really good colour and fades really well. 99% natural ingredients too.

Fake tans

Lancaster do a great one that i use and find does not (if used sparingly) crumble after a few days...it seems to fade with no stubborn stains.

Serial fake tanner!

After trying nearly everyone on one the market, I find I always come back to either the St Tropez Mousse (if I'm feeling flush), it's easy to apply and gives an instant colour and then develops in about 3 hours, it dries quick so it's handy having young kids. However, I'm really pleased with a spray tan called Natural Tan that I bought on the internet from www.discountbeautyshop.co.uk, it was £4.95 (RRP is £16) and I bought a mitt to apply it with that was £1.95. Spray on to the mitt and then use the mitt to apply, the mitt is washable and the tan has a slight colour and then develops. My friends are now using it too.

Good Luck and hope this helps
