Fake bake
hi i have had two fake bakes at two different salons priced about £15 the tan is sprayed on and gives a instant colour which develops darker during the night, i found you would have to stay in to avoid strange looks, you wash off the top colour in the morning whitch leaves the developed colour underneath, the tan lasted for about a week, it takes a bit of cleasing to remove the patches around the neck and armpit areas. what was the dream tan like

Use the same as the spray tanning machines
I have tried all the famous false tan... st tropez, fake bake etc etc. the best by far is a brand called california tan which you can buy at any 'tanning shop' outlet up and down the country. I have one spray tan a month and top up for the california tan spray which is the same spray tan solution that the spray tan machine uses. its £19.99 a bottle but more than worth it!! don't waste anymore money on st tropez!

How much
I'll have to try this one too - I use He-Shi at the moment - I know dodgy name but it really works as well. It is very thin like water and goes on really even. It turn a lovely brown colour not orange. I'm just 1/2 way through my bottle but I may have to try this. How much does it cost?

I've tried them all....
I've tried pretty much every self tanner out there. I had a spray tan recently but didn't like it at all, it was too dark (and very orange), smelly and stained my clothes and bedding etc. Also, it cost 30 quid... It didn't last any longer than my usual tanner, I normally use St Tropez. A friend of mine has been raving about a tanner called Famous Daves Tanner, I've just bought some but haven't tried it yet. Apparently it's fab, doesn't smell at all and looks very natural (my friend's lovely and brown, I'm orange!!). I'll try it this weekend, hopefully it's as good as their website says it is! xx

Fantastic tanner!!!!
Tried Famous Dave's Tanner last weekend, and OMG that stuff is fantastic!!!! I'm BROWN, not orange, and no streaks!!! I can't believe I haven't tried it before, my mate has been raving about it for months! It dried almost instantly and there was hardly any smell, my tan looks really natural and it hasn't stained my clothes either. It's by far the best tanner I've tried and believe me I've tried a lot!!! I got a discount code with my order, let me see if I can find it.....

Famous dave's tanner
Went on Famous Dave's Tanner website. Think I will try it but based only on what you have said about it, H is right you should be a sales rep for the stuff!
Website is a little odd...lots of quotes from body builders raving about it and they talk some rubbish about pH.
Dave says that the acidic ingredients found in most fake tans have pH's higher than 6 (wrong, higher than 6 is neutral and above that is alkaline). He goes on to say that because they have a pH of about 6 they turn you orange. Well lemon juice has an acidic pH that turns litmus paper red this does not mean it turns your skin red in the same way that alkaline soap doesn't turn your skin blue!
Anyway still think I'll give it a go, just thought I'd set the record straight!

Ay, now you're talking!

Still loving the tanner!
I topped up my tan last night before I went to bed and woke up looking like I had just spent 2 weeks in the Caribbean! I did exfoliate before applying the tanner last weekend but didn't bother yesterday. No need to moisturise, it hasn't dried my skin at all and I think the tanner itself also acts as a moisturiser (just noticed it's actually called Moisture Tan!). The tan was wearing off evenly, I'm really impressed, I didn't really need to top up yet but wanted a slightly darker tan... I was really impressed with how quickly it dried, I went to bed probably a couple of minutes after applying it last night and it hasn't stained my sheets! Woohooo!!!!!

Tango'd zebra
OMG the amount of money I have spent on these things, creams, lotions, sprays...I just look like a tango'd zebra.Smells horrid too. I smell it all day yergh I'd like to hear of any successes ..of for the failures..toothpaste is good for removing dark areas, but then you have a white spot arghhh! I am willing to pay for a propper spray, but if it only lasts a week , forget it h

Thanks for the tip!
Cool, didn't know about the toothpaste thing, thanks for the tip! Was going to invest in some tan remover but will try toothpaste first! xx

Another good tip!
Hi there, sorry to butt into your conversation but I also find if you gently rub the areas where the tan builds up (ie ankles knees and elbows) with one of those large emery boards, that usually does the trick. Also to avoid getting the darker patches in the first place...try putting on some moisturizing lotion on those areas before and after applying the tanning solution. I use Johnsons holiday skin, everyone says how natural I look but now Ive read your info about dave's tanning lotion I think I may try it!
