Hair help!!

hi there, i have long hair, and would like to try curling it with my straightners. i haven't quite got the knack of it yet, and wondering if anyone has any tips. also, when it does curl, it falls out really quickly, so what styling agent is the best. its for 2nite, so i dont have time to do any other techniques overnight, such as rollers etc. apart from that i dont own any, lol. if you have any other styles, please let me know, ill give it a bash.
