Ghd mk4 hair straighteners - wide plates v normal??

Hi all,
Just wanted to have your thoughts on ghd mk4 wide plate straighteners,
I am thinking about getting a pair but didn't know which ones to get!
I have thick, fairly long hair which is naturally wavy but wondered if the wide plates let you curl your hair as good as the normal plates?

I have really thick, long hair and use the normal ones, I left another post early because I got mine before christmas from a hair salon in chester and I saw them on Boots.com at the weekend with as card points!

ive got long thick hair but i got the medium size plates as i find the wider ones are harder to do your root area.
