Hair dyeing

Good Morning All

I have half head blond highlights but my roots are now about an inch thick and I have dark brown hair underneath so as you can imagine its not a pretty site!

I can not afford to have them re-done as my finances have gone down hill.

What do I have to do to dye my hair back to a brown colour. I know it will go green if I go striaght in with a brown colour.

Is there anything I can do other than wait for it to grow out?

The only thing that I can suggest is a remedy for a green tinge. My dad used to be a hairdresser and tells me this works although I have never tried this myself. To correct green tinges in hair put tomato ketchup onto the hair, leave for 15-20 minutes and rinse thoroughly, the colouring in the ketchup will counteract the green tinge. Like I say though haven't tried it myself!
