Hi and thanks for taking your time to read through this. I would greatly appreciate some advice and opinions.

Also, comments on this nose: http://524.imageshack.us/524/1303/otherya0.jpg
I'm 18 and I badly want to get rhinoplasty. I've been wanting to ever since I was 13, always been teased for my nose and I agree with the nasty comments I've received (I've received criticism regarding my weight too, but I refuse to drop a pound as I'm happy with my curves - I'm not easily affected by outside pressure, but I really do believe my nose is big and needs to be reduced). I've heard it's easier to remove humps than making small changes, would it be diffcult to perform an operation on a nose like mine?
I don't know much on the subject and would like some advice and opinions. I will provide you with pictures and I'd like you to point out what could be changed and what should not be messed with. The hump on my nose doesn't really bother me, in fact I sometimes consider humps to be charming, like the one Jessica Simpson and Kristen Bell have. No, what is primarily bothering me is the front part of my nose (dont knwo the fancy names for the different part of the nose, sorry). And I believe it's just too big for my face. It's so much worse when I smile, as I smile, my nose kind of "bends" and becomes crooky. For this reason I always try NOT to smile or laugh in public, and it's harsh as I naturally look like a sour person, so by avoiding smiling I look even more sour. I dont want to give people that impression.
Furthermore, I feel my confidence is at point zero, because of my nouse. It's been getting worse and worse lately. I don't want to go out and see friends, I don't want to date (I'm 18 and have nver had a boyfriend, not even a flirt). I don't believe a nosejob would change my world and resolve all my troubles, but it would help a great deal and boost my confidence!
I've never spoken to anyone about this, apart from my 1.family - they admit the nose is big 2.my friend who says I should go for it.
There are a few problems and obstacles.' 1. I'm not so informed : could easily search for information, this is the first step, and I'm doing it now. 2. Price. I'm in school and don't have a job. How much does it cost? is it true that there are horrible surgeons in countries like chez republik, poland, estonia etc? or can I get agood result AND a cheaper job there? 3. I'm SCARED of the risks and side effects. I'm so scared that something will go wrong, I've seen pics of collapsed bridges and I'm scared it'll happen to me and that I'll wish I never touched my nose. I get easily colds and when I am sick I have a hard time breathing through my nose. Will a surgery make things worse? What are the risks for complications?
ANY help is GREATLY appreciated!
Love, mumin

hi- im also 18 and hav wanted a nose job desperatly since i started secondary school and started to really evaluate my appearance. when i was 16 i went to see a surgeon with my mum to discuss this. however, he was abrupt and unhelpfull and dismissive. being under 18 i put it out of the pipeline and concentated on college etc however i still desperatly wanted it and was gravely unconfidant and unhappy, i too have been teased all my life in school and out of school about my nose however much this is completely the sole and only one thing i can honestly say is perminantly on my mind i hav tried not to let it get in the way and am now in a place (and have been for some time) where i feel i am not wanting it as a quick fix but as something to enhance my self confidence and to release a huge weight off my shoulders which is worth every penny and every bruise if this one thing doesnt stop me anymore for the rest of my life! so worth it! anyway, my point is do it for you and yes go for it because i can relate totally to what your feeling as when reading your post i found myself thinking "wow i do that!" and i agree larger more profound noses are MUCH better than little piggy noses however i feel this i also feel a nose should be feminine and mine does not compliament my other quite petite features and unlike your weight theres not quick fix, its really surgery.
i hav tried dermal fillers in my nose as a "quick fix" to get me through the years until surgery was possible. however this helped soften the bump and the harshness but was still no where near a result. maybe something to try before you really go for the surgery? would be good to really start to look into it- how they perform the surgery, all the risks and all the terms used so ure really familiar!
nose jobs range from £2000-£4000. my mission this year was to fund this finally. however, like you, working part time i did apply for a loan with a few companies but no one would accept. however, my mum has very kindly (and with no prompting or hinting from me!) offered to pay for the surgery and i can loan the money off her paying her ack £100 a month. if you are serious and your family understand maybe something to consider\/ i was even willing to drop out of college and work full time to fund it i was that unhappy!! however now i am just waiting to get the ball rolling! this week my mum has promised we will be on our way to the first step which means speaking to surgions and the bank!
can i suggest a very good surgeon... my parent both work i nthe medical industry and my step dad being a surgion and my mum having working in theatres for decades they have recommended THE best! here are a couple of names i can reccomed you look into..however they are all in and around the midlands but it might give you some direction...
1. Paul Glossop- he actually trains surgions in rhinoplasty and ie seen his work- hes good! he works for nuffield, Nothampton.
2. Miss Kat- Little Aston SPIRE group, birmingham. shes supposed to be very good.
there are a few more names and ill have to wait till my parents get home for me to find out more if your interested!
the risks are... infection. this is a big risk and can have quite severe concequences, can cause collapsed bridges, skin tsiiue being "eaten" away and all sorts can also mean you need further surgery.
you may not be happy with the result. its not the desired shape, it dint make much of a difference. its too small.
i would absolutly stress to be assertive with your surgeon. hav u ever gone to the hairdressers and not been assertive and cme out with something you didnt like and been upset? this is not something you want with a nose job.
most important bit of advice to ANYONE and EVERYONE getting a nose job:
DO NOT HAVE IT DONE WITH THE HARLEY MEDICAL GROUP OR ANYONE WHICH ADVERTISES COSMETIC SURGERY SO COMMERCIALL.
THE BEST THING IS TO HAVE IT DONE WITH A PRIVATE HOSPITAL BECAUSE MOST OF THEIR SURGEONS WHO OFFER RHINOPLASTY ARE EAR NOSE AND THROAT SURGIONS WHO HAVE BRANCHED INT COSMETIC SURGERY. BASICALLY ALL THEY DO ALL DAY EVERY DAY IS NOSES. THIS INCLUDES RHINOPLASTY AS A COSMETIC PROCEDURE AND A MEDICAL PROCEDURE. THEY ARE THE BEST. IF YOU GO WITH A "COSMETIC SURGION" HE ALSO DOES BOOB JOBS, LIPO, ETC HE IS NOT SPECIALISED I NONE AREA AS AN ent SURGION WOULD BE. THIS HAS COME FROM MY PARENTS WITH LOTS OF EXPERIENCE IN THIS AREA.
anyway sorry for the length of my reply and for any spelling or typing errors i am rubbish at typing and never check it afterwards lol!! hope this helps? let me know what you think? am i nthe same boat and am so glad i found your message

Hello LauraJean1437
I have had a consultation with Paul Glossop and am thinking of going ahead with the rhino - he was lovely and obviously knew his stuff - I am not sure if I expalined what I wanted enough though, did you eventually have rhino with him? You say you have seen his work, was this in person or pictures?
Many thanks
