Olive oil on skin

hi, i have started using olive oil straight from the bottle from the kitchen, on my face at nite as a moisturizer. i have not used it as a face wash....i personally like a little suds on my face (i think overseas, suds may mean beer?, but i live in the U.S.A. and i am talking about cleansing suds (soap, creams, etc.)....in only the couple days i have been applying the olive oil on my face as a moisturizer, my skin does feel silky soft (esp. my cheeks). I also have oily skin, so i just wash my face in the morning and apply my nivea Q10....i am age 44, but have been told that i look in my early 30's. I figure olive oil has to be good on the skin....why not?

Secret to having better skin with olive oil

I've been using olive oil for my skin ever since I found that it's as healthy to use on the skin as it is to have in your salad dressings. I've always had good skin, but have always wanted *perfect* flawless skin. I've used hundreds of products on the market, but they were making my skin too dry or too oily, or they were too messy, or whatever. But then I read a Welloria article about olive oil (I'm a Welloria member) and it said that it's really high in Vitamins E and K. That's what first gave me the idea... I had bought a scrub from the market but it was too rough, not effective at all, so I added some olive oil and mixed in there really well... Awesome! Ever since then, I combine a dry scrub with olive oil and I get the best results!!! I'm always getting complemented on my skin... It works because you get the exfoliation, the moisture, and the vitamins If you're interested in reading the article I read, it's at http://www.Welloria.com/Olive_Oils/Olive_Oil_Benef-its_Extra_Virg in_p1.html - it has a free sign-up I think if you're not a member. I'd love to know if anyone else has figured out the dry scrub olive oil combination.

Olive oil really does work!!!

Hi All!

I've read about using olive oil on another discussion board ... . I was very sceptic about it first but after reading all those positive testimonials I thoug I had to give it a go. Being from Hungary I am quite dark with olive skin, and as most of you know olive sking comes with spots and greasy shine. I always had problems with my skin ever since I was 11. I am 23 now and I thought all those 'tenage' spots should be gone by this age. But in my case they didn't. I've tried everything - cheap and expensive creams, antibiotics... even Dianette pills subscribed by my GP(this only worked on my back as that used to be covered with spots too). So for all these years nothing has worked...and I have spent a lot of money for nothing. Most of the creams even made my skin worse (except Clinique which was ok but the results not good enough and it's very expensive)
Then I've accidently found a web page (mentioned above) where other girls are writing about their experiences with olive oil. I've tried it on the same night. First it seemed a bit greasy but next morning my skin was so soft, it's never been like this before. All my pores have tightened and my skin had a nice glow. On the second day I had a few more lump-like spots coming up, that really scared me but I've carried on using olive oil. After about only 5 days of using it ALL my spots have cleared up, and after just 2 weeks I can hardly see the scars (I had scars because I'm a picker..
I can't belive the difference this has made to my skin. I would recomend it to anyone. My three sisters have already startid using it after they saw the effect the olive oil had on my skin.
I did some research and found that the best one to use is organic, cold pressed exra virgin olive oil (around £2.50 for 500 mls in Tesco, but you can find it in most supermarkets)
Did you know that olive oil is the most natural preservative? They use it in most mediterran countries to preserve cheese and other food, this way they can last for long years. So I see using it on my skin as preserving it.. Also people from these countries have less wrinkles and they hardly develop skin cancer. They also consume a lot of olive oil.
Anyway, I hope you don't mind me going on about this. It's just I'm so happy with the way my skin looks and feels at the moment - after 12 years of suffering of terrible skin condition this is such a relief!
I hope to hear many more women experiencing the great benefits of olive oil, and its SO cheap!

Good luck for all of you!

Olive oil

Hi, i found your article quite interesting and try to follow up your advice on using olive oil, i jave oily skin so i wanted to know how often do you use it, i have only started using it for two days and i apply it on my face at night before i go to bed (leaving it on all night) then in the morning as a moisturiser but i just leave it on, dont bother removing it with a cloth, is this ok?
im not sure if im doing too much,,should i just use it at night then as a cleanser only in the morning?

would appreciate your advice.
thanks

Can u gimme a li'l advice

Hi..I read all the info about olive oil you shared in the forum. It looks like olive oil has brought a welcome change in your skin. I never really had a skin care regime but i think its about time i started one. I am thinking of including olive oil as the main working force. Can you tell me, perhaps if you've tried, if its fine to dab a few drops of olive oil as moisturizer daily after the usual cleansing/toning etc. My skin type is normal and i prefer not to use moisturizing creams. I'd be grateful if you could gimme any tips on this. Thanx..

"olive oil really does work!!!"

Hi everybody!
I'v heard about using olive oil as a face cleanser before, but I was sceptible.Last night I finaly tried it and this morning I noticed that the two zits I haver, were already less visible!which is REALLY NICE!I also have like a million blackheads, I have heard that you first go thru a detox phase in which it becomes worse and then gets better. Is this true?Have anybody experienced this?

Greetz,
Jessy

Congratulations!

Is used to have acne, so I can definately understand why you're so pleased! Am going to try olive oil as I now have quite dry skin which takes a bashing in the winter, so it may help. I have loads of open pores too, so that would be great.

How do you apply it? do you just rub it in like a cleanser then take it off with cotton wool?

How i use olive oil...

I pour some oil in my hand (half of spoonfull), rub it all over my face and neck then wipe it off with a clean flannel dipped in hot water. Then I repeat the whole process again to make sure all the make up and dirt comes off. I don't need to dry my face with anything, it dries within seconds after using hot water but my skin feels incredibly soft. Hot water opens your pores so your skin can absorb the righ amount of oil it needs and then the flanel scrapes off the excess amount so it all makes sense. In the mornings I just rub in a few drops to mousturise my skin and then put on make up. (don't use too much - it could make your makeup smudge and slide off) About twice a week after I 'washed' my face I massage a few drops of olive oil in my face and leave it on as an overnight mask. It makes wonders. I just can't believe the difference it's made to my skin. Also my pores and blackheads started dissapearing. All my friends and work mates are asking about what I'm using.
I've also tried olive oil mixed with sugar as a face and body scrub. The bath can look a mess and dirt but it's worth the hassle.
I believe olive oil rebalances the amount of oil your skin should have. Think about it when you use face cleansers-toners (most of the times full of harsh cemichals) this strips of the natural oil of your skin. So what happens is that your skin wants to compensate by producing more oil. And there's the problempen pores which then get blocked by dirt and they become spots and pimples. And I've been spending a fortune on expensive stuff... all for nothing. Olive oil is cheap and is NATURAL. You should only use extra virgin, cold pressed, organic oil as this is the least processed.

So what do you think ladies?

Re using olive oil

doing some research into my oily skin i came across your message. how is your skin now ? do u still use the same routine? i had been using dr hauschka facial oil but at £22 a pop it was getting expensive so i am keen to try the olive oil treatment. i have used it today for the first time and fingers crossed it will work. i am a little dubious and am waiting for my face to turn into an oil slick. hope to hear from u soon.

Thank you

Im 17 and have just started using olive oil on my skin as you recommened and I wanted to thank you...It has made such a difference xxx

Oily skin

Hi i was using facewash for greasy skin but it was making my skin very dry and it wasn't getting rid of the thousands of blackheads i have so i thought i'd give olive oil a go,i have only been using it a couple of days but my skin has become excessivel oily is this normal or should i stop using it??

Well...

your message is so encouraging!! I've had acne for many years now and i'm really fed up with it as i'm turning 25 soon. I've tried lots of differents creams.Sometimes it worked, but my skin never looked great. Lately, i decided to go for natural products. I've been using jojoba oil for my oily skin ( and it works great!). But i still have some spots. After reading your message, i bought the best olive oil i could find, and i've been using it for 2 days now. I can't see any difference yet, but i'm hopeful.
Thanks for the tip, i'm glad it worked for you.

Spongebob

Is it working?

Are you still using olive oil on your face? I started using it 5 days ago and am seeing gradual improvements - spots are healing, skin is softer and much less dry. I have always suffered with acne and have tried just about everything - have you found the olive oil has helped with blackheads?

Well...

I am using olive oil on my face but in a different way. I use it as a make-up remover ( very efficient) and i mix green clay and olive oil or honey and olive oil and it works great.
I don't feel brave enough just to use olive oil despite the positive opinions.
Are you using olive oil only and still use some other creams or products?

Spongebob,

Please keep using olive oil. You might not see the benefits straight away, you skin might even start braking out in spots - this is all part of the cleaning process. Just dont pick or squeze your spots/pimples. If I do get the ocasional spot (during my cycle) after cleaning my face with olive oil I dab some extra oil directly on it, massage and leave it on. Belive it or not this actually dries the spots but without drying the skin around them(like most spot creams do)
Please let us know how things go.
I wish you good luck!

Darkens the skin...

Face preserving

I am only 17 years old and I've started using olive oil. I started using it about 2 months ago! it's great!! It actually preserves your face and it has softend up some of my laughing lines around my eyes. I am never going to stop using olive oil.
I heard about a women on tv who had a very young looking skin on her face and she was about 20 and she was in her 50s.
Although I have found that olive oil brings out spots in the processes of cleansing your face. I remend putting it on stretch marks to as I have found its really lightend them up. And I put it on my legs after shaving!
USE OLIVE OIL!!!!!!!!!! I totall promote it!! its amazing!

For your beauty!!

i think that all ladies should use tis lotions for their qualities! i recomand you Gerovital Plant Forte! ios natural 100%

Natural product

Like you I'm newly interested in natural product. I tried Rose water for my oily skin and cornflower water for "bad morning" eyes.
First I found weird to use oil for oily skin! Now you convince me! How exacly do u use it? With your hands or on a tissue?
I read that you can use "soya bean oil" foor oily skin, but I can't find it in the shops.

What about essential oils?

Dharmaluv

I use rose oil water as a toner as I have sensitive skin - doe sthe vornflower water work? I've seen it and I could really do with something for my eyes in the morning!
