Tall girls

Hey Sarah, Oh my! Your post makes me really sad. I completely understand tho' as I'm 6ft2 ...
Shopping has to be the most stressful thing about being tall - plus if you've got large feet like me (size 11) then there's so little choice you just feel like giving up and admitting defeat..

You know what though, there are many tall girls like us and life is easier if you try to understand some of the annoying things about being tall (like why people make comments all the time?!?!?!? NIGHTMARE!!!) ..

I got so annoyed with it all I started writing a blog.. it's not about anything specifically except being tall.. like if you date a man who's shorter than you, should you stop wearing heels? Or talking about some of the great tall role models there are out there... I even try to pass on all the information I've obtained on where to get clothes and shoes to fit .. my favourite blog post? Why us tall girls SHOULD wear heels!!!

Maybe have a look - it's called the Amazona Blog. It might help you to realise that sometimes we tall girls forget that height is an advantage! Sometimes we just can't see that ..

Tall is hot!

Hi sarah,
I too am a tall girl! 5"11 and i can understand your frustration, especially as most of my friends tend to shop in the "petit" section too!
My main problem though is that as well as being tall, i am naturally really thin (size 6) which makes finding clothes all the more stressful! I have been to long tall sallys, new look and other places which do tall sections and i have found that their clothes sizes usually start at 8/10! which means things bag!
now i don't know about anyone else but even being tall i love my heels! the only problem being is with jeans i like the whole victoria beckham look, when your jeans hit the floor even when your wearing heels! Jeans are my main problem when it comes to shopping so i tend to stick to skinny jeans as i feel they look best on my long thin frame.
but i would say this, even though i get frustrated like yourself i have just signed up to a modelling agency and had offers coming in everyday!
where as before i hated being tall now i rejoice it as it has given me an amzing oppertunity to do something most girls would only dream of!
so try not to get yourself down about it! and hold your head high!
i hope this helped a bit! xx

Hi Sarah
I am 6' 1" but feel differently about being tall. I accepted a long time ago that this is the way it is and walked tall and straight since then. I more often that not wear heels, and for going out I even have some 5" heels.
I cant shop much on the high street but i go to Long Tall Sally, New Look have some things though they never seem long enough for me, Top Shop and Next do a fab tall range with a lot of the stuff being affordable it seems to only be available in the big stores or online. I have also got some Wallis clothing and a few of the Phase Eight dresses are ok (they are a bit more expensive but nice for a special occasion).
I am much taller than all my friends and the people I work with, if you can try to accept how you are, we are all different and it is nothing to be ashamed of. Sadly people think they have the right to comment or assume because we are tall that things dont hurt, I protest loud and long if stupid things like that are ever said to me now.
Please try not to feel so negative about yourself, Im sure you look fab too it just the only thing you focus on is your height and nothing else. You are a whole package, not just your height.

I'm tall too.

I'm not as tall as you, I'm 5ft 10in but I love it. Maybe those two inches make a difference but we can get away with sooo much. The hardest part is that I only ever wanted guys who were taller than me and that wasn't easy but I've done it.
It's good that flat shoes are in fashion. I wear a lot of those. I've had people ask me to get things from top shelves in supermarkets for them.
Can appreciate you feeling the odd one out but if you could work on the way you see yourself it might make you feel better.
There are a lot of tall women out there. Women are getting taller with each generation.
I have felt bad when next to small people because I know they can have height issues and I didn't like being the one to highlight their size. Think that has been the only time I've felt bad about my height. Do you shop at specialist shops and do you find trousers and jeans with an inside leg long enough. I have trouble with that a lot.
