yes i defo agree with that it is quite sad that children are not children for long and they feel they have to compete with the other girls with there make-up,hair and clothes and it is sooo hard to tell how old they are some of them look alot older anyway and thats without the make-up and sexy clothes.
i am only 2 and children have changed so much since i was at school..

Whole thread for the following message:

"Are kids too sexy?"

Just something I've noticed lately how young kids (mostly girls) are trying to make them selves look older and dare I say SEXY?!
For example just the other day I saw a little girl around 9 or 10 at a swimming pool wearing a VERY padded bikini top and a full face of make - up (which was inevitably smeared across her face).
Also I am horrified to see in shops like tammy girl THONGS! in ages as young as 5-6!!!!
Call me old fashioned but I think children should be kept as innocent as possible (hard I know in todays society) for as long as possible!
It just sickens me to see such young girls dressed older than their time! Logo t-shirts aswell with sayings like "I'm still a virgin but this is an old t-shirt" being worn by 11 year old girls!! I know they see people like britney spears wearing things like this but isn't there anything we can do to stop this!!
I was still playing with barbies at 11! Not thinking about looking SEXY!

I am absolutely disgusted and astonished by the sexualisation of children in today's society and agree with you completely. Not only are thongs being sold for young girls, (Tesco were in big trouble for selling some knickers for 7 yr olds that said 'Dive In' on them) you can also get padded bras. I am still shocked when I go to town and see 13yr old girls with makeup caked on their young faces and dressing like (very sexual women) at least five years older. What concerns me the most is the kind of parent that allows this to happen!

The people who make the clothes/make-up, underwear etc know that kids today have a greater income and buying power than ever before.

They're going to be happy to exploit such a lucrative market (

most definately, and its hard to say things to family members bringing up their daughters in this way, its appalling. i think im going to have a baby girl and she will be wearing thermal tights forever.. or at least until shes about 13!
just kidding, i think im pretty realistic in what little girls should be like. i was a tomboy myself and can only hope my childs the same, i think toys like bratz are vile.
my children will only know the word no, for boys.
"Almost 18"

I mean its a little weird, celebrity kids like miley
cyrus wearing and posing very sexy looking on Purpose.

at that age, below 18, its , well,,, maybe its natural for girls
but don't be surprised if you get some attention!

you may get attention from people that you dont want to get
attention from !

its a really truicky subject, it really is

If I would have a daughter I would want her to be happy, and
exploring her sexuality is something that is her right , whenever
she feels, that is her body, her business. But I would say that
she be careful until age 18 with really doing too much of that.

the more oppressive an adult becomes the more the child wants
to rebel against that oppression, and maybe then really do stuff like sleep with
boys when shes only age 15 or 16. how very dangerous.

I think the bottom line is that under 18, the parent is responsible
and, well attention getting clothes WILL get attention, and
hopefully she has nice caring friends that protect her and not
hurt her.

whats to say that as soon as she becomes 18 she'll be 'sexually enlightened'?

I agree, it places too much pressure on kids when they should be just playing.
"Kids..."
Posted by elspeth3 11 November  at  21:02

I think that kids nowadays are dressed like grown ups people. No comparison with kids dressed 20 years ago. It is not a matter of being sexy. They are just kids dressed in a c ertain way which way in fact can appears sexy. Nothing to do with their own mentality. They want to imitate what they see watching television. Variety, sikngers, etc . It is sad in a way because I have the feeling (may be wrong) that they miss their
childhood. The result is rather negative : pedophil world is developping more and more'. Abnormal men are tempted by more or less babies just because they are attracted by the way they dress. A little girl of 10 who is dressed like a pin up girl of 25 is quite tempting for an abnormal man . The parents should be more careful in deciding (they are the ones who decide) how to dress their children. So is the souvenir I have of my own childhodd. I could not decide myself. I started to decide after beeing 15 years old. Not before. Parents now treat their chldren like toys.
"Stay within reason!"

I think it is personally the parents choice on how they want their children to look!

By 13, I think a child is old enough to start wanting to look sexy and wearing make-up erc. I do agree at 11 it is too young though, yes they can wear make-up and that for parties and things, but i do think it is ridiculous for school.

I lost my virginity at 13, and yes I do wish I had waited. But I was safe about it and used contraception. I think aslong as the girl/boy is sensible about it then having sex isnt a problem. Its just personal choice.

im 26, and have three kids. two girls, and a boy. my oldest girl is 7, and blimey, she wants to be 27. there's no way she's growing up too quick.
i took her shopping the other day, and she wanted belly tops, and mini skirts, needless to say, she came home, with jeans, and cute cardigans.
she looks lovely, and her age.
there's time for her to be in minis, when she is at an age to wear them.for now my 7 year old, will be a 7 year old

right.

some of the stuff I am reading, other posts,, man. ! you can do whatever you want to, but theres dangerous things also, young or old, and me, I will allways be careful about anything I do, and even get many other people's opinions because I am a careful person, and I value myself. I happen to know a few really hot grown up girls , above 19 years of age, that like touching themselves when they are alone, (by themselves) and that is pretty interesting to talk about, their habits in that regard.

with kids I keep thinking " you have your whole life ahead of you for this kind of bullshit, as kids we need to set up a career for you, not even just school, a career, and then when you are all set up, and grown up you will have your own house, and you can have as much fun as you want, and you will be so much smarter, having known so many years of life. I know the parents will agree.

well, also dressing your kids and letting them out of your sight are two different topics as well

I am 22 and even I am not at ease when I'm sexy before my mother ( at age 16 I still couldn't use make-up with her!!). Though she's not old fashioned at all but she always tell me that there's no better beauty than natural (taht I can't agree with her but this is not the point...lol), the point is now I am so happy not to be a provocative girl and I think parents must be more watchful... I don't know there are perverts out there and little girls are enough vulnerable in jeans!
I think this problem is part of a bigger issue in our societies, u know: the child is the king. Now parents must restore their authority, responsablity and stop being careless. Those kids are too sexy and it is shocking!

... we have so much sexually ill-minded people. It's also the task of the parents to be aware of that. Some of them are irresponsable to let their kids dressed like Britney Spears clones. Because when you're a teenager girl, you cannot really feel your attractivity power.
"I agree"

It's extremely irresponsible of the parents. One the one hand, the media are trying to turn us into a paranoid, US-like country where we're scared because there could be a pervert round any corner, while on the other, putting pressure on eveyrone to look 'sexy', which young kids are going to pick up on.
