does anyone think they were linked, ie same group? they look much more like copycat attacks... nailbombs are an IRA favourite, so I wouldn't be surprised if other groups were making the most of the political climate and paranoia in London to strike themselves. this is very sad.

Absolutely right, Katy.
Having been on this God forsaken earth for longer than I care to admit, much of my life has been spent under the threat of bomb attacks. The blitz, IRA, Bader Meinhoff gang, PLO, Red something or other, the 'Take me to Cuba' idiots, etc etc etc.
Whoever is responsible they should take note that none of the efforts of the aforementioned terrorists had the least effect. True they killed innocent people in their murderous campaigns but were ineffective in promoting their causes.
I abhor the constant references made by the government and press to 'El Quaida' and the publicity it gives to this loose shamble of fanatics. It is scare-mongering on the part of the Blair government (as practised by Bush and his neo-Conservative cronies) in order to execute more control, and further erode our constitutional freedom.
The preventative measures that will stop this terrorism rest firmly in the hands of the government of the USA. Initiate a MEANINGFUL dialogue with the Palestinians. Stop threatening Iran and get out of Iraq.
True they will be giving 'El Quaida' what they want - but is this not what the majority of the people want too, of any faith or country.

I don't think anything 'meaningful' is going to be established by the US during the current administration!
