This is an american who does want to know where the funds go
I am not necessarily a George Bush supporter, believe me, he is not my favorite president, and I also have questioned quite a bit. It's horrible how the situation was handled in Louisianna, & I agree that it was little too late, but the fault lies in many...particularly the local Louisianna government, such as the governor & the mayor of Louisianna It was their responsibility first. Well, also Katrina was not being predicted as a big hurricane. It wasn't until it held off the coast for a long time, and unexpectantly gained strength that it became so devastating. Also there were many people who refused to leave even though they were told to. In short, the meteorologists can predict fairly accurately where the hurricanes are going to come ashore...the knew Katrina was going to hit Louisianna/Mississippi, but it wasn't a huge hurricane until just before it hit (holding back, gaining strength), also hmmmm, I've been watching the news for a week prior to hurricane Rita, and they have been predicting that it was going to hit Texas (Houston, Galveston) & Louisianna again. Erring on the side of caution in light of how bad Katrina was, they were making sure that everyone left, and that proper care was in place just in case. Wow, George Bush is so clever, he sent the hurricane to Texas, & made sure that his state was prepared, all to make himself look like a hero & redeem himself. That is just ridiculous. I actually don't really care much for him, but it's those people who are so against him that say such ridiculous things that drive me crazy. Believe me, no matter where the hurricane would have been "predicted" to hit, & everyone knew it was hitting Texas long before it did, he would've made sure that it was handled correctly, yes, so as not to lose more lives, but I'm sure to redeem himself. Believe me, he has not redeemed himself in my eyes or most people's eyes, but the fact that Texas was the victim & he is from Texas is a coincidence. He's not powerful enough to cause nature to send a hurricane for PR purposes.
