i have some money - not enough to buy anywhere to live in my county, so i thought abroad may be a good investment for the future and provide a holiday home in the meantime. Have any of you done same or are considering? Would be nice to not feel so alone on this - excited and terrified

"Sardinia (italy) is a great place to buy."
Posted by tony1069 25 November  at  00:53

I have just bought a property in Sardinia, it has to be the most beautiful island I have ever been to and I would recommend it to anyone. Ryanair and Easyjet fly to the north and south of the island so its easy to get there cheaply and only about 2 hours flight. Property prices are very reasonable I bought mine through www.HouseAroundSardinia.eu they have a good selection of properties and the staff were really helpful and spoke english which was a bonus.

Sardinia really is the best place to buy right now.

well you are right it is a great investment to buy some property abroad now whether long term or short term, depends on the deal you get. I bought a 2 bedroom flat in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) last January as an investment and now I'm strating to think about keeping it. I bought it off plan for 40000BP and they told me I will have it 18 months. I paid 25% as the first installment, they gave me the contract, about 2 weeks ago Omar my real estate agent called and told me there's a british couple who want to buy my contract for 48000BP. I just couldn't believe it. I told him I'll think about it, anyway called him back and asked him why has it gone up 8000 in such a short period of time, so he sent me a photo of the block where my flat is and the ground floor was nearly ready. prices jump by the day in sharm. sharm is starting to become a popular holiday spot for brits now, as it is only 4 hours away by plane and you can get real cheap flights out there, always sunny over there. I'm thinking about buying something else there, maybe when I'm there in Eastern.

"Bulgarian properties and british living in bulgaria"
Posted by kirilbarakov 3 November  at  17:18

Hello Sue,

Bulgaria is a country with wonderful nature. In some parts it is completely wild. Mountains, hills, forests, sea... untouched from the human beings. But there are also many modern and civilized cities, sea and ski resorts, casinos, hotels etc... This is what the real Bulgaria is. A combination between wild nature and civilization.
But the major asset of this country is the low cost of living and cheap properties. This is the reason why many British decided to buy a house in Bulgaria to live here, others for holiday or investment.

I can help you to find the right house in Bulgaria, at the right price. Please visit www.SweetBulgarianHome.com
or contact me by e-mail: kirilbarakov@yahoo.co.uk

P.S.: If you decide to visit Bulgaria and view some properties, I will personally help you for everything during the whole permanence.

"I have bought abroad"
Posted by frankn20 25 July  at  00:26

Perhaps I could help. I have bought two properties abroad, one in Spain and one in Estonia.
I am selling the one in Spain. It is in Estepon near Marbella. You can see it at www.spain-realestates.co.uk
What would you like to know? Where would you like to go? I nearly bought in New York, Buffalo near the Canadian border because my parents live in Toronto, but was told it was crime ridden, probably an exaggeration.
"Have you found anything?"
Posted by bubbles20 11 May  at  15:44

hi sue, have you found anything yet?
Don't be terrified, it will be so great when it's all done and dusted and you're sitting on a terrace overlooking soem gorgeous moutnainside on a hot evening, sipping a martini!
"Turkey?"
Posted by missmachin 18 April  at  15:24

Have you thought about Turkey? Hot and cheap.
A with anywhere, I think you'd be much better off if you had someone who could help you language-wise, think how complicated things are when you're buying in the UK and then imagine trying to do it in a foreign language!
"What a great idea!"
Posted by lennylover1 5 April  at  11:22

I have friends who were thinking about this recently - what countries are you intrested in?
They found that property in the South of France is not as cheap as it used to be, (largely due to all the Brits who have bought up country houses), but a holiday home is still a great investment as you can rent it out for astronomical sums while you're not there.

thanks for your reply. I'm considering Bulgaria it seems to be the cheapest around at the moment and is due to join the E.U in 2007 all the stuff i've read seems to be o.k. but concerned about the pitfalls of maybe hidden costs and problems - still i guess that's life
